throwout bearing

Yeah I know this is the clkubhouse, but I dont have the time to sit and wait in the 99-04 section...

I have the clutch and flywheel off. How do Iget the TOB off? Ive seen it taken off with the flywheel still on.

Should I have left the flywheel on?

I need some help here. I gotta get as much done tomorrow morning before work as I can. Then after work (if I can find a place thats open to resurface my flywheel) I can have it done by tomorrow night.

You could have left the flywheel on. If you have an advanced auto near by they rent the tool to pull it out. Its like $40 deposit to rent it, can't remember the exact name of it...very straight forward on how to use it.

But since you did pull the flywheel you might have to use a slide hammer on it.

well i mean I can always just bolt the flywheel back up. I made some markings on em. I was going by haynes manual for a refernce and it said the make some markings with a marker. Well I did and then took the flywheel off.

The TOB did not slide out. Its stuck in there pretty damn tight...

Yeah it has a more technical name...but yes you get your money back....your gonna be pissed at yourself for not getting it in the first place after you realize how easy it makes your life. One of those right tool for the job kinda things.

But i dont think autozone rents tools, though they might have changed...i know advanced auto does...i stick with advanced cause they give me a 10% military discount

going there at the butt crack of dawn then...

Im getting up at around 730 or so and im gonna start calling some machine shops and a few auto places for a deal on resurfacing a FW and Ill stop by there to pick up that kit. Sweet.

By the way, I picked up the transmission this afternoon after school. Mark (the mechanic) was sooooo fucking helpful. Holy shit. He gave me sealer for the shifter for free and all this shit.

He said the problem was that the synchro SLID and it started rolling into the gear or somehring liek that. Basically it was going halfway through the synchro and the gear and it ended up grinding the edge of 3rd gear off. He replaced it all and even showed me the old parts. MAJOR plus with me. Im pretty excited

theres not a chance in hell your throw out bearing is on the flywheel,
it never touches it
you are probably talking about the pilot bearing
which you use the old grease trick to get out

im not sure what your talking about

the throw out bearing rest in the clutch fork and slides on the front transmission retainer pushing the fingers on the pressure plate in

the Pilot bearing is what the end of the input shaft sits in which really is on the end of your crankshaft
thats the one that can be tricky to get out
the TO bearing should easily come out though

GT trannys(t3650) are a PITA i hate them idk WHY ford decide to have the tranny and bellhousing 1 piece
