do the people who buy GM vechiles have to pay a monthly fee for on star?

if so what if you don't want to pay does the buttons in your car just not work or its part of your contract and you have to or what?

it's free for a year if you buy the car new then it's a monthly fee.

yeah its free for one year and after that i believe its $8 per month afterwards. i love it to death. has gotten my ass out trouble more than a couple times when ive been lost in really big cities. i will continue paying for it after my free membership runs out. plus i have a satelite phone in my truck through on star also. so if im out somewhere where i cant get reception and there is an emergency, i can call someone through the truck. its a pretty cool deal.

my dad's friend has an 07 c6 z06 and he says he hates on star.. he says he gets tons of emails from them whenever he speeds, whenever tire pressure is low, etc.

i believe that you can call through OnStar just by activating it and saying "Dial" and then say the 10 digit number. i tried it in a rental once on the chance that it might work. and it did.

hey bwal tell him he can turn shit like that off on the interenet. when he got the onstar, he created an account with them, and you can pick and choose what it send syou. each month i get reprt of mileage driven, oil change and fuel filter changes needed. tired pressure checks, but it doesnt ever say anything about speeding and i reg, run i right at 100 mph

ok that's a pretty cool deal. i'll let him know about that deal. he's like 60 years old and his deal is pretty new and i doubt he even knew he signed up for that deal when he bought his deal. i'll let him know how that deal works and maybe figure out how to turn that feature of the deal off.
