Well if atx is still a relevant platform, I wouldn't sell the Tsunami. It's still a kick-ass case with a lot of flexibility, and it cost me 200 bucks back in the day. lol

The quad core would be more than enough for most tasks. If you really need the raw power, go to newegg and find a dual core with high clock

I agree with Shadow on the memory, get lower timing ram, you will thank yourself later.

I would have to say, run away from that site and use newegg, you will get alot more for the same price listed there. Or the same stuff for cheaper And their customer service is awsome if anything is DOA or dies shortly after.
The Q6600 is a great processor, except if you buy it from newegg ther eis NO guarantee that you will get a G0 step....you might bet the B3 which would suck balls. I might my G0 step Q6600 from Directron-Best Discount Store-Computer Parts Cases PC Power Supply Houston Hardware Software PC Motherboards Hard Drives Network Memory Repair Used Texas for 278 delivered and got it in three days.

My build:
Q6600 G0 step (not yet overclocked)
Asus P5E board.
2 GB Kingston Hyper X RAM
EVGA 8800GT VGA
Seasonic 500W PS
Antec 900 case (amazing air cooling)
Zalman 9700 NT heatsink
Western digital 120GB main HDD, and 500BG storage
Liteon DVDR/DL burner

Buy all the stuff through newegg, its way cheaper.

I'd get a Q6600 or a Q9450
Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Quad-Core Processor - CPUs / Processors
Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 Yorkfield 2.66GHz 12MB L2 Cache LGA 775 95W Quad-Core Processor - CPUs / Processors

Mobo, I'd get a X38, preferably a Asus P5E or Maximus Formula
Newegg.com - ASUS P5E LGA 775 Intel X38 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards
Newegg.com - ASUS MAXIMUS FORMULA LGA 775 Intel X38 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards

Vid card, EVGA 8800GTS (G92)
Newegg.com - EVGA 512-P3-N841-AR GeForce 8800GTS (G92) 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics

Memory, Geil Esoteria/Evo ONE or TeamGroup Team Xtreem
Newegg.com - GeIL EVO ONE 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory
Newegg.com - GeIL Esoteria 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory
Newegg.com - Team 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory

I would vouch for Team group... but my Team group Team Xtreem memory is about 2 years old and they're still kicking (back when they came with the heatspreaders unatached)

Power Supply (about the MOST important piece you need to buy... going cheap can cost you if the PSU decies to bites the dust)
My recomendatios are:
PCP&C
Tagan
Enermax
Antec
Corsair
OCZ

The rest, (Case, HDD's, Monitor, etc.) is pretty much the easiest to pick out

My build:
QX6700 normally running @ 3.2ghz
2GB kit Team Xtreem PC2 5300 (I have it running @ 800 4-4-4-4 ussually)
Asus P5W-DH Deluxe
Evga 8800GTX
4x 80GB hitachi drives in Raid 0 (OS, games) (much faster than a single drive setup... but higher risk if one HDD decides to bite the dust)
1x 500GB Western Digital drive (backup/data)
2x cheap CompUSA DVD burners
1x floppy drive (only used to install the raid drivers )
Thermaltake Armor case Full tower case (I need a bigger one... this one is getting cramped inside)
PCP&C 610watt PSU

I keep away of the nvidia chipset on intel builds... I had a 680i and it SUCKED! hooray for 30-day return at CompUSA (sad to see it go)

ATX is still the current Form factor for mobo's... BTX was intels atempt at a new mobo style, but it never became popular.

Thank you. So the Tsunami is still a very viable case then.

Yep... 99% of desktop boards are either ATX or mATX form factor

Good. I've always worried that I wasted 200 bucks on a kickass tower, and then let it sit around so long that it has become obsolete.

The problem is, can I still remember how to build a pc? lol

It's easy... PCI cards only work on PCI slots and PCI-e cards only fit in PCI-e slots... and CPU's have notches so you can't put em backwards... and cables have notched to align them correctly

Yeah I'm sure it would come back to me if I bought everything & just started getting at it. I just can't seem to bring myself to drop any cash on something like that when I have a perfectly functioning core 2 duo with 2 gigs of kingston ram and a wd 10,000 rpm raptor. It's like, why bother right now? Just so I can have a cool tower? lol

Then transfer that PC into the case

and if its a prebuilt system (Dell, whatever) buy a mobo so you have overclocking availability and just transfer everything else

And asking me that don't bother question is inapropriate... I upgrade from a Opteron 170 (Dual core AMD) to a Core 2 Duo and 3 or 4 months later got a QX6700 (Quad core) for half the price it was for a OEM version

Meh I seriously can't be bothered. lol

I'll wait until something craps out on this thing, and then move it over to the Tsunami case along with the new parts.

Lazy...

A cool thing about building PC's... Sell your used hardware on ebay... I ussually recover more than 60% of the money I spent on the part
