Such a reflection of society as a whole with the way we think about everything.

I am the devil with this Vfast. I put reports together on how to streamline companies. Human labor is a commodity that did this to themselves. There is absolutely a place for human interaction but technology is replacing that so fast. You are right, this has been happening since Ford built the first assembly line. Today its happening at a faster pace than ever.

I ALWAYS use the phrase "reallocate resources" when proposing a downsize in labor. I never tell a company to fire or layoff anyone. what they do with that employee is their choice. I always make the recommendation of using the labor in another place when possible.

Let me give you an example on this subject.

You have a guy thats working for company "A" for 10 years. He's a shipping Supervisor on the dock. His job is to check in all incomming boxes and to make sure all outgoing are getting out as well. He makes $15 an hour with benefits.

I just did an analysis and audited this guys books (UPS,FED-EX, USPS invoices). I wont get into every detail but the guy was shipping documents OVERNIGHT to addresses in the same industrial complex. He was also over posting items an average of 28% on all out going. WTF? What a waste! He was also not checking the received time when shipping items that were "guaranteed" by a carrier to be delivered by 10:30am. IF your not going to demand the refund or use the late packages to negotiate a better rate, what are you doing? MY point... this guy wasted a tremendous amount of money in the last fiscal year. He single handedly threw away 4% of the companies net profits! 4%! This is huge. Again, he's just a dock supervisor. Nobody notices. He gets overlooked. The worst thing is that he KNOWS these things and admited to it. His excuse was it took too long or didnt have time to do it the right way. He was fucking lazy and it wasnt his money he was throwing out.. Thats why he did it.

You say how does this relate to the story? Easy.. There is software that costs less than his wage that will automate the shipping decisions and auditing process for reviews and refunds. The technology imposes a necessary DISAPLINE to keep profits from being tossed away. If a company doesnt switch to the technology they might as well throw $100 bills off the dock every 10 minutes of every day, 365 days per year.

The dock super will probably still have a job but it will be in another department or area.

Here V, here's my idea of the perfect grocery store.

Completely automated with only me as the sole employee.
No registers, no lines NO employees and their wages or liabilities.

Want to buy from me? Real simple. Order online from my website. I will go through and pick out your stuff put it in my van and deliver it right to your door. You never have to leave your house. You dont have to spend gas money or anything. Kinda like Shwans but not expensive. Everyday groceries delivered when ordered.

Sound even a bit appealing? This is what we've been being marketed towards for the last 10 years. This is coming. The benefits to the consumer are tremendous. Its hard to impulse buy when the store display is not in your face so you can stick to your budget. You dont have to spend gas money or take any risks on the road driving. The kids dont beg for shit and you dont even need to take a shower before you shop.

the best part is that this grocery store is profitable as hell because their is no labor to mess with. No employees to call off or piss off customers.
