Hmmm, which car to get...

OK guys, I'm kind of stuck here.

I can go one of three routes right now.

1) Buy a older (94-98) Mustang Gt from a buy/pay here lot, and pay almost $1000 more than its worth, and it will have high(er) milage

2)Buy a cheap $1500 or less four banger to use until I get more money

3) Pick up a newer V6 that doesn't run like a POS, then when the time comes save some more money, and do a trade in for a GT. This will give me a decent ride until then, but will chew more gas. Downside is it may take longer to get a GT.

I really want a Cobra or a 99-04 GT, but I get turned down at the moment for any Financing due to lack of credit history when it comes to cars in that price range. I figure I can wait out the credit issue with options 2 and 3 and build credit so I can go for a GT or cobra.

What do you guys think?

Also, the reason for not sticking with my current V6, one its an automatic, and two its starting to have more problems then Im willing to spend money to fix. If Im going to dump all this money into this V6, I would rather get a whole different car thats a 5spd.

Why not be patient, and save more until you can get the Cobra?

or, get a job and a credit card, pay for small things like gas and shit on the card every month and pay it off right away... that way you can build credit immediately

Been doing that, but I still get returns of lack of credit history.

Ive had the CC for about seven months now. Im guessing that in the next few months it will start showing on my score. But still, my 6er is about to kill over, so I need to decide what to do for a ride

well, when/if it does, you will be out a lot of money, sell your car now and see what you can do between now, and when you get a better car... i think that its not fair your not being approved for a 3-10k loan... my friend at the age of 16 took out her own loan... with the help of parental units...

go talk with your bank about a car loan they should try and work with you... or have you already done this

There are a lack of cars around here, so every thing I'm looking at is over $10k. Its very hard to find a GT that is a stick.

Also, the bank will only work if its a newer car, which means more money of course. And payments that will be hard to afford along with the sky high insurance of a 19yo

Nope, I dropped college (not much of a school person, if it doesn't interest me I cant focus on it. Damn ADHD) in favor of working for a IT/Helpdesk.

Also, parents have shatastic credit, so they are not much help.

And GreenFaleen, you made my wallet cry with that comment. Soo far away!
I may need to drive up there and look one day here soon though. If you spot anything nice for under about 9k or so, shoot me a PM or something

ive bought my last 3 cars at buy here/pay heres... none have had any abnormally high mileage and ofcourse i did spend a little bit more, but i didnt mind, they worked with me really well... i say go that route, you gotta pay to play, to some it may not sound ideal, but u can get in a car you like right now and upgrade later, or u can get in a car you hate and upgrade later... u decide lol. i understand patiences is a virtue, however im the most impatient person, and really money isnt everything(cant take it with you, might as well spend it) and rainy days only happen when you let them...

Yeah, I dont mind the buy here pay here, but the ones near me all want $500-600/mo payments, which is a stretch for me if Im paying $300/mo in flipping insurance. And Im the same way, no patience at all I would rather be enjoying my ride then having lots of spare cash.

And Green, I will take a look this week. Good thing is I'm off 100% thurs and friday, so yay spare time

well if you just call him, he can find you the car, and he will deliver or meet you half way if need be.

What is the latest I can call? Cause I normally get home from work at freaking 6pm

I can try calling on lunch tomorrow, but my schedule is very shifty right now. I keep getting surprise training getting me ready for this weekend
