1993 Cobra

How many were produced? How rare are these cars?

Im trying to find some shit on it....

If Im not mistaken its one of the rarest of the Cobras.

Im jsut wondering because theres a kid at my highschool thats claiming hes putting 310 RWP and 350ft lb torque to the wheels

Hes got a 1993 LX 5.0 automatic. He claims to have the 93 Cobra motor, cammed, and exhaust. Hes got 295 rear tires and a 3in cowl hood, and an intake.

I know he has a cam, but its a VERY light cam. You can BARELY tell its there unless you listen closely. Hes got straight pipes with shorty headers and o/r h. I know all these for a fact. I looked under the hood about 4 months ago and it was just a stock 5.0 with shorty headers and an intake.

Anyway long story short, this kid is notorious for being a pathological liar and he wants to run em next week. I told him Im down.

So far theres a 1998 Z28 M6, myself, a 70s Nova with a built 454 big block with a shifter kit, a 2000 Mustang GT auto, and prolly a V6 Mustang guy that thinks he has a 4.2L V6

Im just trying to put a few things together and wondering if this guy is just lying out the ass or not.

if im not mistaken the only difference in the 93 cobra motors was the upper/lower intake..

Yeah, he's lying out his ass. the 5.0s wouldn't lay down 300 to the wheels n/a without a full top end kit and other bolt-on stuff.

So all in all even if he has the said above mods, I should walk this one? I know i know race him and find out, but do you guys think I could?

This is actually the only race Ive been nervous about losing to other than my very first race...

all of us will race at differnt times lol

of course the Nova is the fastest without a doubt. He lives right up the street from me and I hear him crank the beast of a V8 every morning. Hes basically my alarm clock because when I ehar that it means its time to go to school LOL

His only problem is the tires though which sucks. Hes only got 225 Hankooks on there right now. They came with the car. Previous owner took the slicks. Hes rebuiling the rearend to hold even more power and harder launches then hes getting some MTs or Hoosiers

dont blame him. apparently they were brand new but the previous owner took em off. Dunno why.

ive already beaten the LS1 Z28. Hes a 16 year old friend of mine that has a fast car and cant drive it. Has NO idea where his peak power is and where to shift to get it. Go figure...

Well, I can't vouch for this guy's credibility, but if it's a true stock GT-40 motor, it's capable of up to 600 bhp without making major mods to it. My Cobra has minor mods to it, including a Vortech Inter-cooled SC pushing 12lbs of boost and I'm at 586 bhp with about 575 lbs of torque. So, in short, it's very possible. But having said that, if it IS a true Cobra motor in an LX, he probably paid more for the motor than the car is actually worth. I know, because I had a 93 notchback with a GT40 Cobra motor and it cost me a fortune to mount it in that notchback. If he's just a punk kids, it's unlikely, unles his old man is rich. I hope this helps.
