in the extras they explain how they converted it to a rear wheel drive from the AWD...so for the movie it was only rear wheel so it was pretty easy....but yah drifting in an AWD car is pretty tough

Depends on the AWD setup. For most, this isn't true. However, the system in the Lambo Gallardo and the older Skylines only put power to the front wheels if it sensed the rears slipping.

And v6, that's totally wrong. You can't drift if you DON'T have traction. Drifting is a CONTROLLED over/understeer. If you don't have traction, you don't have control.

Also wanted to add - every car shown in that movie drifting was able to drift, even the Nismostang. There was an interview I read with the tecnical director of the movie... he almost turned down the job offer because of the stigma of the FF movies, but he thought he might be able to give it some legitimacy if he did the work.

The parking garage scene was done twice - once with the car on rails, and once with Rhys Millen driving. They used Millen's driving for the movie.

The "training" done with the Evo on the mountain road, those were driven by Tsuchiya, arguably the father of popular drifting. He has a cameo as one of the old fishermen - the translation of his comment is incorrect, he actually says something much more technical (like "too much throttle" or "countersteered too late").

I honestly don't know, minivans bore me

j/k, I've just never looked into 'em. Most likely it's an unequal split, with power biased towards the front wheels.

lol wrong

if you watch the dvd, on the commentary with the director, justin lin, he says on the parking garage scene, they were going to put the car on rails and pull it up, but the professional japanese drifter guy (who says he invented drifting in the 80's ) said he could slide it up the ramp, so the director said he didn't want him to do it because if they wrecked the car they'd be fucked because that was the only 350z they had at the time and they were running out of time to film it, but the chinese guy convinced the director to let him try to drift it, and he naield it in the first try so they put that in the movie
