im now enrolled in a local community college. i start on august 26th, i have 2 years free tuition there, and i have guaranteed acceptance into UVA at Wise when i transfer.


so to all of yall college students, wut is it like?

Congrats man. Which community college is it? Make sure you really hash out your plans with a good adviser there. You want to make sure you get your A.S. in that two year time period. That is where a lot of people mess up. I know I did. When you transfer that Associates gets you out of having to take a lot of stuff you don't need for your major. I also noticed at community college the work is a little tougher but the classes are smaller so you learn more and have more attention from the teacher. Good luck, you'll enjoy it!

Community college is a joke. Get your transfer degree, then go to university. In terms of schooling, it's like going to a class you don't have to attend, but it's in a subject you're actually interested in. And they expect a lot of work out of you.

Unless you're going to major in female anatomy, then I say don't bother. Cause it costs to much, grant or not.

i talked to him a few times over the past month or so and he gave me a list of everything i need to take to transfer

no sure wtf ur talkin about but ok. and if its free im pretty sure its not to much. and also its hard to turn down 2 free years of college when u cant afford it

yeah zers i really dont see what u mean either, at a JUCO you can get you're basics out of the way for what you really wanna do at a university, get your associates on pretty much whatever they offer...a JUCO is a good way to get a head start and its cheaper

Community college won't really be like college, it's basically high school with tougher classes and fewer sports.

Mechanical engineering will suck away your soul unless you're REALLY into it, ditto goes for Electrical.

Don't be too worried about picking a major your first year, get the general education requirements out of the way, take a couple classes you think you'll enjoy. If you do enjoy them, then that's where you should be looking for a major.

congrats on going to a community college aka 13th grade for free. honestly....got to that school for a year....then transfer to a major university. community colleges are a joke. If an employer is looking at your resume and sees a community college vs some with a 4 year degree from say PSU....yur screwed. The big boys are favored because of their reputation.

Where did you go and where u transfering? I graduated from alfred last year wit a BS in mechanical engineering.
