well thast like saying once youve got them on the ground you continue to beat them.... Once theyre on the ground any punches afterwards can be assault and possibly battery from what I understand...

Another scenario I was 14 the guys 18, he was beating up my older cousin she was 19. I went over there and he punched me in the face. I hit him with a porch spindle, and knocked him on the ground. I received a Felonious Assault and Battery with Intent of Great Bodily Harm. A 2 yr felony in MI.

just because hes older doesnt give you the right to use a weapon. not unless he uses one do you have that right... anyhting after he pulls a weapon is self defense sometimes even accidental murder...

I grabbed the guys an headbutted him, and ran his head into the 1/4 panel and gave him a concussion the other guy ran off. He admitted to trying to rob me. yet since I gave him, concussioon and supposedly whiplash, he sued me, and I violated probation, but I was let off due to the circumstances. I still had to pay his medical bills.

wow i knew the law in this country was fucked, but i had NO idea it was this liberal. you should be able to defend yourself without having to fear for paying the other persons medical bill. probably if you were put in the hospital, the guy would go to jail (IF he was caught) and youd still be stuck with the medical bills

thats as bad as the two stories i heard about robbers getting locked in someones garage or cutting their hand while breaking into a house, suing the home owner and WINNING the case

if someone tries to harm you, you should beable to harm them back without having to deal with the consequences

I would go with HMUSN's advice bro...unless she gets attacked, then defend her but don't go too far and even then, let the police take care of it...it's not worth it...I was once in that kind of situation, and decided not to react like I wanted to and not break his skull and guess what, I work for the RCMP(Royal Canadian Mounted Police),love it and plan to do so for the rest of my life(til retirement!!) which wouldn't be the case if I would've hit him and got a criminal record...no need to tell you I'm glad I didn't...

something like this just happened to my step dads co workers stepson. the stepson got in an argument with the stepdad and the kid left to go to his dads (who lives 3 hours away, but never told anyone where he went) anyways he the kid got into it with his dad and it eneded in a fist fight but the dad called the stepdad right away telling him he fucked up really bad and told him what happened. he also told him that he can have him so he can straighten the son out because he has been a bad father so far

Domestic violence situations and very difficult even for trained police officers to handle. Her s/father has all the cards right now. Were you a witness to the original incident? If so you could go to a school counselor and express your concern, the counselor will then get a hold of CPS....and down the road it goes. Your out of it and it's up to your G/F to help the investigation along or not; but your not involved. Or she just needs to dial 911 next time he starts and set the phone down, this usually is considered a D/V call and is responded to by two officers. Once on scene a D/V specialist officer will be called, or a female officer. Generally speaking the preferred method to resolve a D/V incident is by arrest and 24 hours in jail (no bond). Or if there is a hint of child (18 and under) endangerment your G/F may be taken to a foster home or that of a relative.
As for you if you do anything her dad can wait till you on the property and shoot you as a trespasser / home invader. Have you arrested for criminal trespass. File a sexual based complaint, true or not will cost you a bunch to get out of. This is just generalized advice based on your post. D/V is not something that just goes away, and this may or may not be the tip of a very nasty ice berg. Alert the people that can do something about it. Watch for further signs.....that is all you can do for now and share this with your G/F
