Selling UR Mustang
How many of you are considering selling your car because of rising gas prices? I know that once it hits 5$ a gallon here I will have to sell because It wont be even close to practical for me to drive it to work and back everyday and it would be a waste of money if all it did was sit in the garage while I made payments on it and rode the bus everyday. I'm so sad I love my car

Don't be silly! If you sale your GT for another new car, chances are your car payments will be the same or more for a gay econo-box, and it won't get much better average fuel mileage (what 3-5 more mpg's?).
![]() If you want more fuel econemy, get rid of the 4:10's and get an 87 pump gas miser tune.

Like I said, de-mod the car, stick 3:27 gears in it, drive it right, and get a 87oct gas miser tune. I bet he could pull near 30mpg's if he tried.
And FWIW.... $130 a month isn't worth trading down to an econo-box. I'd drop cable tv and my cell phone before I'd do that. ![]() Lastly, for it to cost $70 to fill a mustang, it would have to be bone dry and take 15 gallons at about $4.66 a gallon. Hell, our 93 pump around here is between $3.95-$4.15 a gallon, so it won't run that much to fill up.

Dude, it isn't like the car gets bad fuel economy in the first place. Get an 87 octane tune and call it a day.

But at a $.30-$.40 difference in price it's more expensive for premium.

it may be more expensive at the pump, but you get a better a/f ratio, and can get a noticable mpg rise inbetween pumps. IF you drive it easier you can easily get good gas mileage. When I put my 4.10s in yeah I lost some mpg, but it isn't enough for me to complain that much, and I'm gonna finish my exhaust, and do some other breather mods, and drive it easier so that I can raise my mpg again. Do some mpg raising mods, and don't drive like an asshole.
Also I didn't buy my car for gas mileage. |

It's getting to the point where, in a few months, minimum wage wont pay for gas anymore.

I am not considering selling my car.
I currently pay 5.15 for Sunoco 94 octane fuel. I drive 240 miles, one way, to work, and back, each week. I am spending 110 - 120 dollars a week just to get to work and back. But the Mustang is getting 25-26 mpg on the highway at 70 mph with the cruise on, even with the race tune & 4.10's. I wouldn't trade in the fun and the feeling of driving this car to drive, say, a Cobalt that gets 30 mpg. I will, however, if gas keeps going through the roof, which all indicators seem to say will happen, purchase something like a TDi Jetta after my Mustang is paid off in 3 years, and I will at that time get more serious with the Mustang, and use the other car as my DD for the most part. |

I get more than that from a tank, Youngin. When I leave home, I fill the tank. When I get to work, which is exactly 248 miles, I have a quarter tank left, sometimes just under, sometimes just over, depending on how I drive and if there is a headwind or not.

I have a 60 liter tank, which is *does math*, 16 galloons. lol
What kind of driving do you do though, man? If it's combined city/hwy, it will be a lot worse. Fill the tank one sunny Sunday, get on the hwy, drive out gently, put the cruise on at 70, go 50 miles one way, come back, and fill the tank. Then do the math. I bet it will be a lot better. In town, my car is a pig, barely capable of getting 14 mpg unless I really concentrate on shifting progressively (short shifting) and being very gentle with the throttle. |

keep the mustang and get a motorcycle if you're worried about gas. you can make your motorcycle payment with the money you save on gas.
