Maybe some of you can help me. I'm trying to figure out the grading of the SAT. I got a 520 on critical reading, 520 on math, and 560 on writting. I think I got a 1,600, but I talked to my aunt and she said that most colleges put more weight on the CR and Math.

Any input?

the only ones that matter are math and cr, unless you plan on going to princeton... so you got 1040.

Most of us college old farts took it with the old scoring system. Can't be too much help. lol

Where are you looking to go? Some colleges want good scores, others will take you if you can spell your name correctly.

well obviously it is out of 2400 and the total score can be a factor. I think it will also depend on your major.. ie if you're applying as an engineer, you better have a damn high math score.

I also have heard (from a teacher, not confirmed though) that a lot of colleges are taking your standardized testing essay scores over your SAT ones, but i'm not sure how true that is.

If you're trying to figure out the scoring, check out where you match up against other people applying to the college you are going to apply to.

But there is A LOT more that goes into getting accepted than your SATs.. e.g gpa, choice of major, essay you write for them, etc.

I would advise taking the SATs if you aren't satisfied or if your college choice has a higher average.

I got a 2030 on my SATs, 730 math, 670 writing, 630 reading... and i STILL got rejected at both UCLA and berkeley. (4.05 GPA as well). That is because i applied as an engineer (one of the biggest mistakes of my life) and ended up getting fucked because most colleges only accept a few people as engineers (i'm going to UCSB, and they only have room for 75 engineers this year). So be very careful, unless you are 100% sure, in choosing your major.. i would recommend undeclared.

So, overall, SAT wise, I am right in place for Sam Houston students, I also have alot of extra choricular (sp?) activities and such that will look really good on a college app.

send your scores in the same way you registered for taking your exam? It's still collegeboard.com right? there should be an option that says send in your scores and then you choose what school you want to send it to.

you're taking it again? not a bad idea.

You choose where you want your scores sent when you register. At collegeboard.com you get to choose like 4 colleges to send it to.

I took that thing 4 freakin' times because I was a NERD in high school, so I took it every year.

Of course, what's even more sad is that I scored better as a Freshman than most of my classmates did as seniors :eyeroll:
