Still in shock

Today started like any other day. Cup of coffee and to my office to prepare for the day. About 10am I get aphone call to stay in my office because my boss is on his way. OK, I just wait here because it takes an hour for him to get to my office. I had no idea what he was going to need.

when he got here.... he fired me. 10+ years of service gone in 3 seconds flat. The reason is so fucking dumb I still dont know what to think. The company is hurting like so many others. I was too expensive to keep.

I havent looked for a job let alone built a resume in years. I am scared shitless. Its ok to switch jobs in your early 20s but Im getting too old now. 33 is not young anymore. I dont know what to say or think at this point.

I was told a severence package is on its way but we'll see what crap they came up with. Probably a membership to the jelly of the month club or something.

The economy is so bad right now...dude's right though - 10 yrs experience on a resume is def a good thing.

Hook yourself up on Monster.com...you'll find something and I'm willing to bet it will work out for the better.

Damn! Im sorry to hear that.

I got laid off too.. I even worked 6 hours that day.. talked to my boss a few times.. then she calls and said "why are you here today? I called you friday , you have been laid off"

WTF! No one was there that day.. I just got up and walked out fucking pist as all hell.. Left the doors open and no one to attend customers. Fuck that place.

Finding a new job SUCKS ASS !!

man that suxs here in bama allegro motor homes a place were alot of my friends work has laid off 250 people so far and there looking to lay off 100 more beford july it really suxs for all of the people getting laid off i hope you find a job

Wow.I seriously thank you for the support. If anyone can send an extra prayer my way that would be awesome. Everyone seems to be feeling this economy we are in one way or another. Its like everyone has been affected or personally knows someone who has. Its ugly. Genevie, I feel your pain today. I feel really disrespected because my boss acted like it was nothing. He had the nerve to make small talk like what he was doing was alright. Holy shit... what an asshole! Thank God my wife is supporting this, I mean she is being positive about it.

Worse thing above everything else. I will get another job. I will find a way to make money one way or another. But something really hurt tonight. I went into my sons room at about 7 and he fell asleep on his bed with all his clothes on. I sat there next to him and just put my hand on his shoulder for a second. He was asleep but I told him I loved him. He's 14 but he's still just a kid to me as much as he tries to prove otherwise. Him and his sister need me to survive. I can only hope this doesnt effect my kids too much. I worry so much about them. Fuck me, I can handle about anything. But kids dont understand as much. Im so afraid of letting them down. Im so afraid of that. I havent cried a tear in years... hell, I cant remember the last time. But as I watched my little boy sleep there and my uncertainty about tomorrow flashed through my mind, I let a tear out.

I dont have a written contract except a non compete which I think is void. I was told I am probably going to get 3 months pay. I can also cash in all my stock and vacation time. I also have my 401 if needed. But I hope to God I dont have to use that. That was my retirement and it took me forever to get it. I am going into the main office in the morning to discuss everything with the District Director.
