Looking for some input.

Now I'm not the type to post personal problems on a forum, but i thought I'd gather some unbiased opinions from some of the members here. If you have an opinion please feel free in letting me know. Here it goes:

My GF has a cousin whom she never contacts nor do they contact us. Not even to say hello to our child on his b-day for the last 4yrs. He's finally getting married and we were invited by him. This is where I'm confused. They're so persistent in getting us to go they dropped the the line of "family has to be together at such an occasion". Theres a gentlemen whom associates with them from the neighborhood who happens to be a family friend and an ex friend of my gf when she was very young. She no longer knows the guy but one night (maybe 8 months ago) this douche decided to call her at 12pm on a weekday and also on our vacation trip in Vegas. She told him to stop calling and asked whom did he get the number from. He declined to name anyone. So one day i became fed up and she asked me to call him and nicely ask him to stop with his annoying persistence of trying to talk. So i called and at first he said "please don't hurt her, i got the number from her cousin and i just wanted to see how shes been doing. Shes an old friend of mine". I said " well i don't appreciate the late calls so stop it, plus shes annoyed. He proceeded to yell out some gang name or crew name. As you can see you know where this left off. Anywho, now that youve been thrown off i'll tie it all up. This guy that is getting married is my GF cousin and will have the guy i argued with there. I'm a man of peace, not violence. I prefer to leave all of this aside, but this guys character has been described as mental. She wants to go and i have declined. Am i in the right? Should she stand by my decision or am i over-reacting? In reality if this was happening to you what would you do? please refrain from retarded answers...lol

well if you don't want to do it, don't do it. but its kinda of hard to say that when your decision is going to possibly effect your loved one.

Dude, that's a tough one, but in all honesty, going to that wedding will only cause more conflict and I think we all know it. The confrontation, the reception; none of it will be pleasent and you need to explain that to your wife. By going, you could be putting someone in danger. Who, it could be a number of people, but in the long run, it isn't worth it.

Explain it to the groom and hope he understands and wish him the best of luck.

Go to the wedding, but not the reception. I don't think that the guy will start something in the church, but during the reception... Alcohol, possibility of drugs. Sounds likebyou're walking into a hornet's nest. IMHO best of luck to ya.

Your GF wants to go because its going to cause drama and all women love drama. I agree, if you have to go, only go to the wedding. If that will make your GF happy I think its the most happy medium. If you can though, I wouldn't go at all.

Thank you all for the input. You have given me the answer i have been relaying over to her for a while now. I showed her your response and instead of saying "i can see why now babe, i understand" she silently walks away and doesn't say a word about it. I don't want her to hold me accountable for not attending the ceremony. Woman can't let things go when its due to the other party, but when its from them they wish to leave it alone!

What makes you think that he wouldn't try something in a parking lot? or even before church? I'm doubt any of that matters to these people anymore. Commit a murder on Saturday and repent on Sunday for these type of folks.
I think i rather be safe than sorry. Once again, thank you all for your honest input.

You probably should not let her go by her self with this guy being there.

I guess I'm one of those people who likes to call another's bluff. I don't think that he is that bad, if he was he wouldn't have yelled gang shit on the phone. He clearly sounds like a punk, and immature punk.

I look at it like this if I wanted to fuck some guy up that was married to a friend of mine the last thing that I would do is get loud on the phone. I would remain quiet until I can get close to the guy. I wouldn't threaten him over the phone I would wait until at the wedding reception after the guy is tipsy then jump his ass. It's not because I'm a pussy, and can't fight fair, but it's that there is no such thing as a fair fight. There is only one rule kill or be killed. I try to do whatever I have to do to hurt that mfer to the point where he'll never be the same. I donm't wanna kick a guys ass in a fight I wanna mame him, I want him to suffer for life.

That why I don't think that the guy is seriously going to start something. I said go because it's apparent that your woman wants to go, not going to the reception is obvious, because even if the guy is a pussy, he might have his boys or fam there or nearby.

Bro, you could get mugged coming out of the grocery store, killed for looking at someone wrong. To be hesitant to go to a wedding ceremony is a little ridiculous bro. IMHO!!! sorry bro, just calling it like I see it.

I disagree fM1. This is a wedding for a cousin. Not a brother or sister. And these people aren't even close, and never call them. So I could give a shit if some asshole is trying to call my bluff or not. It's just not worth the possible drama and hassle, that could fuck up your life if it goes bad. All because she had to go to a cousin's wedding.

Meh, I say, meh! lol

i agree with zip and FM1R

FM1R is right about the guy probably not being as tough as he acts. all he's doing is trying to look hard so that people wont fuck with him, just because he doesn't want people to know he'd go cry in a corner if somebody even yelled at him

zip is right about the fact that you have no reason to go to the wedding. it's funny to me that your girl's cousin never talked to you and her until he wanted something out of yall.

It's clear that they want a handout. A card with an envelope with cash in it.
