Snapped an ARP head stud

Yupp
while assembling obdnanr's motor i snapped the first ARP stud.
final torque is 100-105ft lbs when using engine oil

so i lightly lubed the bottom threads
then put on the head gasket and put on the head
then the washer then the nut
torqued all the bolt in the correct order in this sequence
30-45-75-90 then went to 105
now for some reason the nut turned a good 1/2 turn before snapping...

was about an inch deep in the block luckily i got it out. looking where it snapped looks like it had air bubbles and is defective

so the brand new head gasket had to be trashed

luckily i have a set of ARP head studs for my car that im going to use 1 for his til i get the defective one back
same with the head gasket...
i have to order another

only good news is his short block is done and the left head went on fine

whats wrong with those pisitons? haha they look like they were already melted from a non oiled motor. haha

and a head stud is a stud that goes in the block, and then the head gasket and then a head. Then you use nuts to hold the heads down on the block. Allows for taking off the ehad and reusing the studs. Also will hold more power without allowoing the head to lift...

That stud looks like the metal is crystallized, it could be a form of corrosion, but my guess is that some how a bad billit got through QA. My bet is that will want it back. Whew got it out though!
