ok so i have a serious dilemma.

I transferred to the University of Toledo which is close to where i live. I do not want to live at home for these reasons

1. It's at least a 30 minute drive one way
2. thats a lot of gas and miles on my car
3. I would have to leave AT LEAST 45 minutes to an hour before my first class so i could get a parking spot.
4. I wouldn't be able to have girls over if i lived at home, but my parents wouldn't care if i didn't come home and stuff

So that makes me want to get an apartment with some friends. We went today and filled out an application so we could reserve the apartment. We have till friday to tell them whether or not we are moving in.

The cost of living in an apartment would be $829 NOT including, gas, electric, water, tv, internet. There would be 3 people living in the apartment so thats about $315 a person.

My parents also told me that i have to start paying for gas. My bill last month is $174 but that is also including my trip to indianapolis where i filled up 4 days in a row, but they werent full tanks.

If i lived at home gas would be about $300 w/o the s/c just to school and not including work so it could get up to $350 but about $320 with the s/c and i would get less gas mileage so it would be even more probably and also to work it would be about $400. If i lived at the apartment it would be cut in half cause its 5 miles from campus. and 10-15 from work.

I make around $800 a month so one paycheck will be just for rent. the other paycheck will be for gas, food, fun stuff.

NOW the dilemma is do i want to live paycheck to paycheck? or do i want to sell the s/c and not have to worry about money problems and get the apartment and get a s/c after i graduate?

I could also see if my parents will buy the s/c and i buy it back when i have the money. I really want a s/c but some things are more important.

I just don't know what to do

i would sell the s/c
you'll have more money for the things you need

you can get the things you want after you've got all of your priorities settled
you might not like selling the s/c

but im sure you would be more displeased w/ not having money to pay bills and end up getting kicked out of the appartment

I would get out of the house. Most apartments cover water BTW. As for cable and whatnot, screw it. I didnt have cable from 18-22 and Im just fine. Plus the money you would save in gas not driving back and forth might pay for the SC after 4 years...

yeah i dont watch tv as it is. i dont have it in my room right now but thats just because my stepdad hasnt routed the wire up here. the only time i watch tv is when my gf comes over and for that we go to the basement but we watch movies in my room, or play the wii.

it looks like the only logical thing to do is sell my s/c


i do plan on keeping my car for like a billion years, its just gonna need some body work and a new engine by the time that happens

and personally that apt is fckin u over, to me that seems high rent then on top of that u have to pay all the rest of the crap

i can put it on myself. but the problem is i would be living paycheck to paycheck. and would be tight with money

All the apartments we looked at were like that, except for one but it was a piece. This one is a nice apartment complex. its next to a golf course

and its like 315 a person

move out, livin in the dorm is a totally different life style that you cant get at home. Youll miss out on all the random partyin in the middle of the week and being retarded with ur roommates in the dorm. Everythin is paid for when u dorm, youll have a meal plan and everythin, all you need to pay for is beer and gas. and you wont be drivin much when ur on campus ull be too drunk too often.

ill be a sophomore in college and i wont be living in a dorm. I lived in a dorm last year at the other school and it was fun. ill be living at an apartment off campus.

yeah i told my parents i would do that and they were like yeah im sure. i was like no seriously i will. i could even ride with one of my roommates if i needed.

but i still have to drive to work but thats not bad and i would still be living paycheck to paycheck, it would just save me money that i could put away for another s/c

An apartment that close to the college is basically the same thing. If you commute and some from class calls at 10pm and is like come have some beers your not gonna wanna nor should u drive 30 min to campus.
