FACTS>

Hurricane Charlie came right through the city I lived. There was massive destruction and many houses, buildings and other structures destroyed. The population consisted of whites, blacks, hispanics and elderly.. quite a few residents that cant speak English from other countries. NOT ONE DEATH.

In my opinion the deaths in New Orleans werent because they were black or cant understand the weather man. Thats BS. They died because of the severity of the conditions on top of the fact that the culture in New Orleans was just lazy to an extreme level. The color of their skin didnt make them the way they were. They were told to leave and they had plenty of warning. They just plain and simple didnt do anything. When a 4 or 5 is coming toward any other community, they grab their shit and leave.

Example, Jacksonville. They are a mostly black city in the south. Why is it when a hurricane hit their city there wasnt massive death? Because it has nothing to do with them being black. New Orleans culture was lazy and dependant on others.

LOL... Your right with what you wrote. My wifes Mexican so I have to be careful about what I write here (just because neither one of us get offended by the others barrage of cracks) She dish's the majority of white boy jokes in my direction. I get complacent to the language and words we use behind closed doors and I cant repeat some of the stuff we say because it would make people upset. I get used to the constant jokes in my house in private. The jokes in my house would offend alot of people. There are no limits in our house... and it gets worse when my black nieces are here to visit. We joke because we LOVE each other. But it would not go over well in public. It helps us deal with some of the seriousness of the problems between our races.

I think I actually crack more white jokes than her and she's always pokin fun at Mexicans.

Believe me or don't, there are rarely any white people at my house. My friends are mostly Latino and a few blacks. We discuss race in an extremely open fashion. It's just rediculous to think that race relations will ever get better if everyone just keeps their mouths shut. That is the best way to aggravate any situation- keeping quiet. MamaStang would have us all deal with the subject in the traditional white way. That is, keep quiet in public, and say what you think to other whites behind closed doors. REDICULOUS!!

With that said, as far as this post for people who want to have thing named after them in order to have recognized this storm to come... I think that is such crock bullshit.

Like I said earlier, Latinos had their means of sending out their messages when something is up that'll affect them. Take the LA strike that went on here. It was organized through the means of latin tv and myspace!

exactly. it had nothing to do with them being of any certain race. it's cause they didn't give enough of a shit until it was too late. plus, their local government wasn't trying to stress the importance of an evacuation. despite warnings from federal officials and even the president.
