new gun

okay so i was talking with my stepdad and he is gonna sign us up for a concealed gun permit class.

then i told him we need to go shooting so i can use his new gun he got last year, or the year before., its a glock.

i got my first gun for my 14th birthday and it was a .22 couldnt tell you the make as i havent used it for a couple years.

but for christmas i want to get a new gun as a present so what should i get? i wasnt a bigger caliber than a .22 of course, so like a .45

any suggestions?

yeah, we will be going to the range a lot more, well hopefully. and we will be using his glock and i can control that. it was a lot different the first time i used it but i was still hitting bulls eyes all day long baby haha (once i got used to the recoil)

Sign up at Forums at Modded Firearms.

Generally the rule of thumb is to go with biggest round you are able to handle. For me though, I can handle a .45 easily but I like .40 because it is still has plenty of stopping power but you are able to carry more ammo.

The Smith & Wesson M&Ps are nice, so are the Springfield XDs, and so are the Glocks.

Find out what manufacture gun you want, then find out what caliber you want...

My personal favorite's

.45 Kimber
.40 H&K
.357 Colt

i don't really know what manufacturer i want. i don't know a whole lot about guns so i don't know who is good and who is bad. i might take a trip up to cabelas and see what guns i like. i def want to get a .45 but ill have to look into a .357. i will have to buy a whole bunch of ammo for it though cause we reload our own bullets and don't have any .357 rounds i don't think. but knowing my step dad we probably do

The .357 Sig is a nice round but it's pretty hard to find ammo in any quantity and it's pretty pricy compared to alot of other rounds. I'd go with a .45. Most any of the name brands will do. Springfield, Colt, Sig (one of my faves), HK. And alot of the lesser known guns will perform right with or better than the bigger brands. Names like CZ and High Standard are often overlooked but make great products. One of my next purchases will be a High Standard Combat Crusader .45.

i still say glock. it doesnt have a bunch of extra crap you dont need, itll go bang every single time you pull the trigger no matter what you feed it or how bad you abuse it. there arent any safeties on the gun to worry about. yeah they dont have a lot of personality, but the functionality is the best out there. its the best combat handgun made period. i say get whichever caliber you best able to control and hit a target with

You can't carry it without people knowing you have it.
