Pony Car Wars?

im so excited to see that the camero and challengers are coming out to compete with fords mustang.... thhis may sound like i like thos cars but if you havnt noticed ever since ford hasnt had any competion for the pony they havnt done a whole lot to make the cars great...im not saying that our cars are slow but ford has downsized the mustangs engine to were there are v-6's that are almost making the same displacment... so now that the compition is coming what do you guys think is next for the mustangs powerplant?....5.4? superchargers on gt stock? even a v-10? 300 horespower just isnt gonna cut it against the 5.7L ls's and 6.1 liter hemis

well i seriously think for the special editions they might try a n/a 5.4, i heard word of doing a 5.0 stroker is something but they don't know the longevity of the motor yet, since stroker mod motors haven't been out that long.

i think ford will have some problems competing with the LS2 (not a 5.7 but a all new small block at 6.0 litre & is stock in new Camaro, new Vette, SSR, & the GTO..) & the 6.1 Hemi... granted ford's price will be cheaper on the mustangs but the hype around the new Camaro & new Challenger are huge. it will definately be interesting though!!

as much of a mustang lover i am, you can bet when the challenger with the 6.1 hemi and the 6 speed comes out, the stang will be sold for a black one!

Sounds like the beginning of a new muscle car era and Im stoked to be around to witness it or be a part of it in some way. I used to love listening to stories by my dad and uncles etc. about the cars they had back in high school and how they used to drag race on backroads at night. Really good stuff.

Yea, car trends go in cycles. We get to live through the fun part. I love that it's gettin back to what it used to be like. Also gotta remember that when the Mustang originally came out it didn't come out for the power...now with the new competition it's like it's starting from scratch. It's almost like a complete re-make of the original pony wars.

as it is cars are made faster and faster every year or few years, demands get higher and higher...by 2030 there will be a mustang like that i bet

IMO i think its a bit rediculous, kids will be 16 with a 280hp v6 or 360 hp GT or 450 cobra
