this week sucks

Sunday for about an hours after i woke up i was fighting of a panic attack and tears until i just finally broke down and was strate sobbing. something i haven't done in years. the rest of Sunday was ok, i didn't really do anything, just waited till Monday and hoped it would be better
.
and it wasn't i had work, witch sucked, more then normal. then while at work for the first time i had to fight of tears and a panic attack.

then yesterday had a panic attack brewing under the surfice from the time i walked in to work, so i spent the majority of the day trying to fight that off. then just a couple hours in to a shift the one person that i like the most there, and actually makes me look forward to work so that i get to see her, got a jov in a different building and left right away, not that i wont get to see her again but just no where near as often, witch really sucks. and work sucked again, it was bay far the slowest, longest, most annoying day i have ever had there, and all the people i talked to felt the same way.

now today i woke up fighting off another panic attack. and have 2, 12 hour night shifts to look forward to. one of witch one of the other people that i work with the i get along with is taking off. so there ill be one person there that i will have to talk to and chances are i wont end up working with them, and we will probably be on different brake schedules so i will barely get to see her.

sorry for the long read, just needed to get this out.

Panic attack? Wow! Those suck. Everyone gets them at some point in time in their life. Well, writing about it may help you deal with it but have you seen a doctor for it?

How does it manifest itself? Crying and fear of death or depression?

well i am only working there like 4 or 5 more weeks. cause it is just a summer job. and it isn't really what is causing the panic attacks but might have a small role in it.
and i am woking on plans for something to look forward to, hopefully soon.

ya i have been dealing with them since about late winter / early spring. but they have been becoming a lot more frequent lately

i am hoping talking about it here will help some, but i am also working out a time to talk with my only good friend / the only person i feel comfortable talking about these sorest of things really in depth about. (she also happens to be the girl that got the new gob, and left my building)

the attacks usually manifest them selfs as crying, hyperventilating, some depression, and just general panic

White-
I'm not a 20 year old fool. I have some serious thought on depression. I'm a little older than most of the peeps around here. The only reason I say that is so that maybe you listen a bit to what Im going to say.

first, what you are talking about is common. VERY common. In my experiences, its the most common problem that is almost "taboo" in the United States. It is overlooked time and time again. For some reason, people are afraid to talk about it and admit it because they are afraid it may show weekness or someone will think they are crazy. Its bullshit.

I can tell you for FACT their are other members here that suffer from this. Quite a few. More than you think. You can see it in their posts and anyone that knows can pick them out. My point here is to make sure you feel ok with this. You are not alone.

Panic attacks anxiety disorders are usually forms of depression. Sometimes clinical depression which is a very real and sometimes disabling disease. Dont take it lightly. Go get some help before it starts to consume your life. There are plenty of options a good therapist can suggest. Prescription drugs are a good last resort. You'd be surprised how much better you can feel after getting to a good phycologist or psychiatrist.

Just dont ignore it. Let me say it again DONT IGNORE IT! Get some help. panic disorders can manifest themselves into real problems if you let them go. Get some professional help and dont EVER be embarrassed about it because its common as hell.

I dealt with anxiety disorders all through high school and I paid a price for not getting help or telling anyone. Mine manifested into "nausea". I'd feel like I was going to throw up for no reason. I was terrified of throwing up. It sounds dumb to someone who doesnt get it. Fear and depression manifests itself in weird and different ways with people. Hyperventalating and heart palpatations are common. Until you can get this worked out white KNOW that you will NOT die from it. You'll get better!!! No worries!! You will get better!!!

i hear you JA. i know it is serious and do agree that there is a good chance that i am depressed. i used to "self medicate" before by drinking witch i stopped June frist and haven't had a drop since. because i relized that if i am actualy depresed that is justabout the worst thing that i can be doing.

and i hear what your saying about getting professional help, which i am not above doing but since i have an idea on what is causing this, i am going to try and work it out on my own at first. but if that doesn't work then i will see a phycologist or psychiatrist and start trying to get some professional help.

i work at Kodak in packaging.
it sucks for a bunch of reasons.
1 the schedule that we work on is 2 12 hour day shifts, then 2 12 hour night sifts then 4 days off.
2 it is in a building that has no windows any where in it that we can see while at work except 1 small window on a fire escape door in a star way. witch was good at first cause it made the night shifts feel the same as the day, but now it just makes all the shifts feel like nights.
3 the work is all mind dulling work that requires no thinking, so i have about 11 hours a day there just to think,
4 the pace of the work is triable, it is not slow enough that you can get brakes to get away for a minuet or anything like that but not fat enough to keep you occupied. it is like 30 seconds to a minuet of work then stand and do nothing for 30 seconds to a minuet
5 some people there are ok, but there are others that have to be they most annoying people on this planet.

If you can work it out on your own, thats great. Stop hitting the bottle was probably the first and best thing you did. Sounds like you are on the right track! Keep at it, we got your back!

There are going to be members that stroll through this thread and read it closely because it "rings a bell" in their world.

right now it is tough as hell to be "transitioning". I use that word because I lack a better one. Let me explain. A decade ago, a man became a "Man" when he was 18. It was like there was some line drawn in the sand that said once you pass this line, your an adult. It was so simple... and to me it was stupid too. It was so "Macho". All guys had to be a man at 18. That meant getting thrown out into the real world on your face if you were ready or not. One day you are 17, the next you have your "big boy" pants on and are expected to be a productive happy adult.

Now that line in the sand has become a "trench". Your parents do their best and then send you towards what they define as a line in the sand. But its not a line anymore. Its a trench and alot of kids are getting stuck in it. They get stuck at the bottom of this trench because they werent ready for life outside the nest yet.

I blame alot of factors for this. I dont blame parents for it all. For years we have lived in this nice cozy country. Everyone had good paying jobs. The economy was healthy. Boarders were secure so to speak. Money wasnt as much of an issue.

Suddenly with 9-11 our world was turned upside fucking down. Little did we know that it was just the tip of the iceberg. Within a few years the economy changed in a nasty way. Our parents in "America" became distracted.... and so did our kids.

See, we got BOMBED with negativity, fear, pain you name it! Its everywhere. You cant escape it. To make it worse, we became a society of JUDGES. We constantly judge others in a shallow fucked up way. So from the newspapers, to the evening news and then an episode of American Idol, we have created an environment of anxiety.

Lots of family's and kids suffer and will continue to suffer from panic and anxiety. Quite frankly, its the American way we created.

Good thing is that you can get help for it. There are people who understand this and can help you fix it. DONT DRINK your way around this. It will make it worse so stay away from the sauce!

and as far as the nausea is concerned, you can take OTC Drammamine. It may make you drowsy but it WILL stop the upset feeling in your gut. If that doesnt work, you can get a prescription from a doctor for Promethazine which is a wonder drug in my opinion for extreme cases. But you really need to work on the root cause. Its not going to go away on its own. You cant "ignore it" and hope for the best. It may let up, but it will come back. Face it .... and kill it!

You got some claustrophobia wrapped in here which explains the nausea. Bet you dont have attacks when you are alone outside somewhere?

Have you been paying attention to the market? My life is one giant panic attack right now...
Hope you get everything worked out as thats no way to live life...

Would a ride in an aston help? Thats been my stress reliever, when I get all worked up I just step out go for a joy ride for 20 or 30 mins to feel better, works like a charm...

( But dont try this if your extremely depressed as the poles start looking friendly... )
