I attempted to go to the VA. When I got out they made an appointment for me in Mobile, AL, which is like, 2 hours from me, and without a job at the time, there was no way I could afford it. So I rescheduled, they gave me a time, then said that I wasn't scheduled for an appointment after I got there. After that I decided that I could not give less of a shit about the VA. Which kinda sucked, because I could have gotten a good bit of disability for shit that happened when I was in. I just didn't want people giving me the run-around, when I could function just fine. It just would have been nice.

That sucks. Sorry to hear about the shitty experience. Did you submit a package yourself or through a center like the American Legion or DAV? I didnt have any problems with that.

I think maybe you guys misunderstood me.....I didnt mean who goes to the VA for medical treatment.....No way no how! I wouldnt attempt that all. I meant who has applied for VA Medical Benefits for their disabilities from the service? Sorry for the confusion.

i tried screening for disability, got nothing. see, the problem is that i had no documentation. do i have joint pains? yep. ringing in the ears? yep, got that too, but i never bothered to go to medical. i had way too much work going on when i was on sea duty, so i just learned to live with it. same thing with my joints. it's really my own fault. i was young and really didn't think about needing all that stuff documented for when i got out...

That sucks!!!!!!!!! When I went to TAP class, they said go get everything documented. So I mad an appoinment and went in like a bitch and complained about everything. Got it all documented. At least you tried! A lot of people havent, so I am trying to advocate it since I am getting a lot of cash for my disabilities. Its nice!

yeah i need to start the process too, i was 1 week too late in starting my claim to actually get the payments within 3 months of me getting out so now it will take over a year for them to review the medical record and then tell you what percentage you are. I already had the guy go thru my record and tell me what i can claim just have to give that paper with these forms to the va so they can start the process. Cause i am looking between the 70-100% range since i had a colapsed lung and flat feet.

overall, there's nothing that impairs me or prevents me from working. the tinnitus is something i actually did have before joining the Navy. as for the aches and pains, i just continue to work through it. i'm only 30, but some days, i can feel the mileage...

Damn! Yea you are! Make sure you have the third party send it in. It will go through faster. I will talk to you tonight about it.
