Scam?
On my recent quest for a new job I have filled out many, many applications. So there is no telling where this came from. Its a long read but I need your guys opinions on whether or not it is a scam.
Hello! Thank you for your interest in this position! Due to recent growth, we must outsource to help with the increase of our customer demand. We are in need of immediate assistance, however we must be selective in the individuals we choose. Our team members are dealing with our customers and customer satisfaction is above the utmost importance to our success! Although you will never be physically or verbally in contact with our customers (all email based), we still require our team members to be professional, efficient, and courteous. Being that almost 100% of this business is done online and via email, it can be new territory for some, however very easy to become accustomed to and in favor of. We are here to help this be an easy transition for our new team members. You will see after the first couple weeks how convenient and efficient it is doing business strictly online with no physical or verbal contact with customers. Many large corporations successfully revolve strictly online. We have a couple of questions to make sure you are a good fit. #1.) How many hours/day can you seriously dedicate to this position? #2.) Do you have a computer with internet access that you can use during these hours you've set aside for this position? #3.) Do you have fairly good grammar skills? #4.) Can you self-motivate? We are looking for someone who can do customer response. It is very tedious work, so little or no distraction is a plus! You will NOT be micromanaged. You will have to self-motivate to get the job done. You will be paid upon completion of each job. There's plenty of work to keep you busy for whatever your schedule may be. The amount of money you make will be determined by how much time and effort you put into it. Many of our new team members start out making OVER $2,000/month and grow from there. It ALL depends on your schedule and dedication. Please think this over and answer these questions truthfully. Once completed, please email them to our Recruiting Director, Anne Kerr, so we can make a proper decision. DO NOT REPLY with your answers to the questions at this email address. EMAIL YOUR ANSWERS TO OUR RECRUITING DIRECTOR, Anne Kerr at akerr.csrcareers@rocketmail.com. If chosen for this position, she will contact you and you may begin working ASAP. Hopefully, you can be a new team member and on your way to earning a terrific income! Thanks and have a great day! Kind Regards, CSR Careers I then replied with my answers and they emailed me back with this Hello! Thank you for taking the time to review and honestly answer the questions. Truthfully, that was simply an exercise to see how well you follow instructions. Most people overlook the simplest tasks, especially if they feel it’s a waste of time. I’m glad you took the time to answer the questions as it shows dedication to detail which is exactly what is needed for this position. I’m happy to say that you have been selected for this position and I look forward to helping you get started! This is a wonderful job opportunity working from home. It's an exciting and financially rewarding position working either P/T or F/T. From here on out, you can look to me for any support while learning the ropes! To begin working, please read the message below from our Vice President of Operations. Kind Regards, Anne Kerr Human Resources Director CSR Careers akerr.csrcareers@rocketmail.com WELCOME ABOARD FELLOW TEAM MEMBER! JOB DESCRIPTION Earn ~$300-$700+/wk. Personal online/email training and support. Work your own hours - days, nights, weekends. This position will consist of sending/receiving emails, processing orders, and general typing. The work will be sent to you upon your request. There are NO sales, cold calling, talking to strangers, click banks, or taking surveys! This is all friendly, customer-based response. These are customers that we as an organization need your help keeping up with. Customer care and timely customer response is crucial in having a successful business. This home-based position gives you the opportunity to earn $100 or more per day! The amount of work you choose to do is entirely up to you and your schedule. Once the work is completed, you will be compensated. Your compensation per week will depend on your typing skills and customer response time. Compensation is as follows: Each online customer response should take about 1 minute. Each customer response will contain, at most, 40 words. In a 2-3 hour work window, you should be able to respond to approximately 100-150 customers. You will be paid per customer response and on average expect to earn $600/week (keeping these figures). The amount of money you earn is entirely up to you! You can get paid daily through PayPal or through paper checks; whichever you prefer. YOUR REQUIREMENTS Reliable computer with Internet/Email access. Good typing skills. Basic Internet knowledge. Excellent work ethic. Self-Motivation/Dedication. Courteous customer care. TRAINING The Training Manual you receive will give you STEP-BY-STEP instructions on how to get started. Very simple to follow, however if you have questions we're here for you! When you receive your Training Manual and first work order, you may begin working immediately! There is NO special software required for this position. There is a ONE-TIME fee of $9.00 for the Training Manual. This fee is to weed out the "curious from the serious.” You will make back this fee in about 10 minutes of work! This cost will cover the Training Manual and first work order sent to you. Please understand that as much as we would like to not charge this small processing fee, we must protect ourselves from those who are not serious about working and to pay for the cost of the Training Manual sent to you, pay those who answer your questions/emails, etc. NO business can afford to cover administrative costs, wasted time, or provide valuable materials to everyone who inquires about this position. There will be NO other fees after you start. You will NOT have to purchase additional work orders. Your Training Manual will be sent out the day the fee is received. Please make check or money out to D.Mead in the amount of $9.00 and mail to: CSR Careers Attn: D. Mead P.O. Box 116 Nancy, KY 42544 Once fee is sent, please email Human Resources Director, Anne Kerr, and provide ALL contact information including YOUR NAME, ADDRESS, AND EMAIL ADDRESS so she is notified where and when to send your Training Manual. Please include ALL your information with the fee as well. Kind Regards, D. Mead Vice President of Operations CSR Careers |

Email them back and tell them that they can take the first $9 you earn out of your paycheck for the training manual. If they agree to this (I would bet they won't) then you might as well try it b/c you only have time invested then.
If they won't agree to this question them on why they won't. If they're so sure you will earn it back in 10 minutes then they shouldn't have a problem taking it out of your first check. Question them about everything. If they are an honest company they'll have good answers and will be able to accomidate you. Most likely they won't be flexible and will want you to pay the $9 up front b/c it is a scam. |

Be cautions Weems. I'm an old fuck as you know and usually if it smells like shit it is shit. If your gut says something is wrong with it then their probably is.
Looking it it, it all looks "canned". their response to you appears sincere but is generic in nature. I think the hook is that its only 9 bucks. People say "hey, its only 9 bucks, what do I have to lose". You are not going to put up much of a fight for 9 dollars a month from now when it doesnt pan out. Thats what they bank on. You need something with a salary or an hourly rate. You, your skills and your time are worth more than a "promiss" of $100 a day. |

Scam?
Hi,
I got the same email about this job....answered the questions as instructed....got the very same response you did. This tells me it could be a Scam because it is exactly the same response....an automatic response...& not from a real person. Here's what I am questioning. They pay you through PayPal. Why can't we pay the fee through PayPal? Why do they not have an electronic version of the manual? They tell you to send a check or money to a P.O. Box....which is suspicious. They have no phone #…which makes me wonder. I googled searched for CSR Careers & this is a legit company, but there is no way of telling if this job is really representing this company. The fact that you can’t pay through PayPal makes me think it is a scam. If they did it through PayPal, they couldn’t scam anyone because people could request a refund…& they would have to honor it or their PayPal account would be suspended. I’m not sure I’m gong to do it….but again it’s only $9.00. Like most….they would do it. I’m going to try & ask a few questions about Paypal & see if the fee could be paid through Paypal…just to see if I get a response. Let’s see if I get a real response & not a canned response. I’ll keep you posted. You might want to send an email to see if you get a response. Thanks, |

Exactly what they want you to think. If they hit 100K people with this scam, and one tenth of one percent send them the $9, they just made $900 for what amounts to almost no work.
This isn't a one-time big money scam for them, this is their living.

It's a scam, I did 30 seconds of searching on Google and couldn't find that company, that name, or that P.O. Box. Also, people on yahoo! Answers had the same question as you Weems, and yeah, it's a scam. NEVER pay someone to give you work, thats retarded, and as FastFox said, if it was real they would deduct the $9 from your first check. This is the same thing as the Pyramid scheme, they have it here in Tampa if not everywhere, but they want like $200 from you to start and they give you supplies, and "help" you but you have to get people to join and pay the $200 as well to make any money. LAME.

Many "companies" ask you for a small fee to provide you with information or materials that will lead you to a "job". They don't tell you that until after you pay. Others will simply take your money and run. IMO, why should I pay someone for a job? The only way I do that is if I'm buying part or partnering with the company. Ask them for a phone number because you have some questions. See what happens.

Reply to this Scam
Hey, this is very random, but I was searching google about this CSR Careers too to find out about them, and I got the EXACT same emails as you. I checked with the BBB and they are registered, just not credited by the BBB. Anywho, I emailed the Kentucky BBB and told them they should look into them and I told them I think they are a scam. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that you are not the only one who got this email, and I hope like me you didn't send them the $9. I can't stand scam artists and I'm going to try and stop them! I don't belong to this msg board, but I joined so I could tell you this. Check out the BBB and search for them, and they are under the KY BBB and send them an email too!
Have a great day! Keri Kobbervig |

Dayum those Scammers!
Well, well, well...A fool is made everyday. I received the exact same email. Don't be dumb. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY...IT'S ALWAYS A SCAM WHEN YOU HAVE TO PAY THEM FIRST! Read Further: here's the scoop on wfhj:
To the guy that stated that it could be legit if you make the payment through payPal, you're just as retarded! Making the payment thru payPal ONLY MAKES SURE THE SCAMMER gets your money much quicker!! DUH! Even if the site has a certified payPal stamp, that doesn't mean it is legit. Trust me, I know. All you have to do is go to payPal website, click merchant accounts, sign up a bogus company, choose the button or "picture" of the payPal stamp you want on your site, and wa-lah! And as for the bogus website they create: you can google free websites, create one, register a b.s. domain name(workfromhomeLegit123.com or something), put more b.s. on the site, then google places to post free ads for work like on craigslist or whoever. Next thing to do is wait for hits from idiots like yourself to hit the site and input credit card information and confirm. Its that easy, Right? Yep! It really is that easy to scam the 'ignorant'. And that's how you're paid. How do I know? Well, it just so happens that I was a fool once in my lifetime and tried one of the scams (not knowing at the time) and see what happens. Ok so, the manual you get is actually a Word document with the same exact details as I just gave you on how to scam people. Just because the job was posted on a legit site such as careerbuilder, monster or jobs.com, doesn't mean a thing. Well, it does mean one thing: The scammer is a really hard worker and will go the extra mile to get your money! FYI: I paid with a major credit card and got a refund because I informed the cc company that it was indeed a scam and had them investigate the issue. *If you look on your statement, it is NOT a company name that made the transaction, it's the scammer's email address. |
