It's not when it "runs out" it's when they stopped it. They based it off 5k year era's and placed huge emphasis on being able to survive and era. The fact that they knew to stop it on the exact day hundreds/thousands of years earlier is the realy spooky part. Not only that but it stops on the exact day that our sun is lined up directly with the center of the galaxy ( only happens like once every 20-30k years ) and also on that exact day the earth completes a "wobble" that happens about every 25-40k years depending. But I am pretty sure there will be some sort of change in the environment, whether is be slow or abrupt. That much happening at once has to cause something on earth to change.

The Mayans calendar ends on December 21, 2012...it just ends. Nostradamus and the Oracle of Delphi also had prophecies. Nostradamus has been credited with lots of stuff like Hitler, The War in the Persian Gulf, The Watergate Scandal, AIDS, and even 9/11. After these events, it's easy to look at his prohpecies and make connections, but his followers and believers have failed MANY times when they've tried to use his prophecies on fortelling the future. I think it's just coincidence because if you look at what's going on now, it seems relatively simple to predict something that will happen. But none of that stuff is completely accurate because it doesn't give enough info. I think it's B/S but it's interesting nonetheless. Only God knows when this world will end

^^^^ Yeah, I was trying to think back on that. But yeah, the sun and the center of the Milky Way are going to be aligned and all energy transferring may be interrupted and no one knows what's to become of it. I think it's pretty darn cool that those people could figure out all that stuff without any type of advanced technology like there is today, and yet we have kids who can't even do simple math.
