Thumbs up

Rap

Is so gay it hurt my ears. I was just wondering for those of you that like this gay music called "rap" why do you like it? You cant like the lyrics I mean talking about popin a nigga and shit. Please use english this is America when in America has someone speaking the english language refered to shooting somone as popin a nigga.

Also 20 years ago look back and not one person listened to this music cause it didnt exist. But now just about every kid in America listens to some form to rap.

I dont find the music good in anyway at all. Why do we let this nations kids at the age of 13 or 14 when they are most suseptible to be manipulated into a different "click" of people listen to this? I personaly think part of the reason for all the kids in America these day acting out alot more than they would have 10 years ago is caused by the media and rap music. Seriously look how many people in high school do drugs just cause they think its the cool thing to do. And then we got rap music talking about being high and snortin lines and shit. I mean come on seriously. How did we ever let music that the main courus of the song is about shooting someone rapeing girls or sexualy exploiting women, or about drugs. How did we ever let a music like that go main stream in america to the point that almost every teenager listens to it

What ever happend to a Stevie Ray Vaughan guitar solo on stage for the song pride and joy or something. Good music like that with good lyrics. Im not saying that alot of those old rock bands where clean cause that wasnt the case btu SRV cleaned up and played with the same intensity only to die a few years later. But most old rock stars have cleaned up and trying to do things now a days. Eric Clapton gave up drugs and started his own drug rehab foundation crossroads thats brings in millions. He even wanted to quit playing the song Cocaine in concert cause of the message it could be bringing kids these days.

But now we got another form of music saying its cool

Just something I thought of

i do listen to some rap, but i agree the lyrics are shit. rap and this whole "gangsta" bullshit has set humanity way back. there is hardly a "rap" out there that doesnt reference drugs or violence in it. its completely rediculous. hell im not even sure why i listen to some of it... there are few rappers i like. i ICP and Twiztid, which is completely a made up act using rap to make money and its obvious, and i love Tech N9ne. theres some others but i dunno. Im perfectly fine listening to some good ole rock and wouldnt mind if rap fell off the earth

im going to agree that its not exactly the best music for pre-teens/early teenagers to be listening to...music is very influencial and explicit rap music is NOT the kind of music i would want influencing my young child...however i wouldnt go as far as saying its horrible...some rap is pretty good (althought most is absolutely horrific and hurts my ears as well), but if you aren't old enough to comprehend the lyrics in a mature way, then i dont think you should be listening to it, too many references to drugs, sex, and violence

but the same for rock could be said, some of their songs arent appropriate for younger listeners either

I cant stand how the people in the city dress with their baggy jeans hanging down their ass cheeks and constantly pulling them up. and just the talk they use. If you went into the city 20 years ago people didnt act like this. Its rap music and the image of the rapper that makes kids think this is the cool way to wear clothes and to act and talk

Its not so much the lyrics its how the rappers image is and how it effects people into thinking what is cool.

Go outside my apartment and stand their for 10 mintues you'll see people trying to act cool from the image they are perceved that is a cool way to act

One of the funniest things I have heard was from a co-worker trying to tell me that country and rock both suck because "country is just a bunch of rednecks crying about their dead dog and alcohol problems, and rock is just mindless screaming about a cheating girlfriend"

He also said that rap is the only genre that talks about real life and real problems...

So of course, my response was... "wow, I didn't know "supersoakin' dat hoe" had become such an epidemic!" I think it took him a little while to understand what "epidemic" meant

real life problems? maybe if you live in da' hood and being shot at is a daily problem

but i agree, the image most rappers present is horrible and ive personally seen how it effects younger teenagers

being a gangsta' isnt cool and will not get you anywhere in life, except in a bread line and in a wel-fare office

their image is not realistic at all...they make millions of dollars off of stupid songs preaching what its all about while they live in their big houses and shit

i think the problem is too many people are influenced by their "lifestyle" and truely believe its the way to live, which its reality is candy coated by these rich rappers

the problem anymore is that the image of "sex, drugs, and violence" sells, and sells very easily

and like i said before, a very unrealistic image

I know thats why rap has got so popular. But how did this ever come to be that sex, drugs and violence would sell so easily?

i think its because everyone has been made to think they can abuse sex, drugs, and violence without consequence, like they think it wont happen to me

sex, well who doesnt love sex but can still have its consequences

drugs, a good feeling/high, but def. has its consequences

and violence will always have consequences
