Just doing a little research on guns and thought it'd be fun to see what everyone else has to say

as with most discussions involving politics and religion, no hateful comments or flaming.. u dont like what's being said, make ur point and leave

in my state, its legal to do something even more controversial than concealed carry.. open carry!

i am all for guns but the thing is gun laws are only as good as the people who inforce them. we dont need more laws we just need better inforcement on the laws we have.

it's my personal philosophy that education deters violence (notice how stupid ppl tend to be quicker to do stupid shit?)

i think maybe a gun safety class in high school and a lesson or two on the basics of firing a handgun would be a good thing to do (u kno, since they force D.A.R.E. on kids, y not G.U.N.S.?)

i think thats a good idea. i hate going shooting with people that have no clue about guns. but you cant teach someone who isnt willing to learn, think about all the people that do drugs. i know so many people that are fucked up on drugs and they were in that program. plus i think parents would freak out also, but non the less it could help.

i failed that program, i was the only one that did

of the ppl that passed it, in my class, at least 10 of them were high on weed before 8th grade..

yeah see thats my point, you can only teach the willing. just cause they do good in a program doesnt mean they will succeed in the teachings. if it was a hands on program with guns then it would probably be better, but i think parents should get involed with there kids. my parents have always been involed with my learning and i think it makes a world of diferrence.

parents being involved is definitely the defining factor

and yea, i meant a hands-on practice session with real guns

especially handguns which would be the weapon of choice for self-defense unless you're at home and got a shotty under ur bed

Personally I think there should be no restriction on where you can and cannot legally carry a concealed weapon, well maybe not government buildings, ect...but in order to obtain a CCL you have to take a number of classes and are instructed on how to properly use a firearm. It is the people who are illegally carrying firearms that you have to be concerned with.

Another thing is LEOs (law enforcment officers) should be able to carry nationwide.

i live down here in Hampton Roads, and while i've never carried openly, i do carry concealed regularly. it's like the guy in the video said: it's not there for me to start problems, it's there in case i need it, and i hope to God i never have to pull it on someone...

+1 v, and I also agree with the statement above that the more someone is educated the less likely they are to commit these crimes. I dont have a problem with anyone carrying weapons, just as long as they are in the right hands. I personally dont carry one, I want to but dont have the time right now, but I hope if I need it that there wouldnt be any hesitation to use it. At least the stupid people are job security lol.

just to bring some different views: guns are worthless. if we banned all guns and took them away from people, there wouldnt be any crime!

Its a catch 22 V6, there may not be any gun crime but it will not stop all crime all together. Not to mention if someone breaks into my home I would not want to only have a bat or hockey stick. I have a gun in my room and it is for home defense.
