You just need to call your bank or shop around for different interest rates. Some will work with you some wont you just need to call and tell them what your doing. It really doesnt work any different once its done just a little bit different process to get it. Good luck

You just gotta go to your local banks and see who will A. Give you the money and B. Give you the best intrest rate. Shop around and see what you can find, in my personal experience I seem to have to put a little bit more money down this way than if you go to a dealer. I dont know if everyone is like that but in my 5 or 6 experiences with this thats how it worked.

its usually 10% down so if you get a loan for 10000 you need to have 1000 in hand to get the loan

so go to several banks and see what they can do for me? and going from 00vert's post i'm assuming that you have to give a down payment to the bank as well?

i was just wondering because half the time i look for a car, no big named dealer will have it and all the private-parties do....the deal with that is, i go to sites for Bank of America, Capital One, etc. and they say that for auto loans, you're gonna have to go to a pre-approved dealership. i just wanna clear this up before i go searching for a new car

find out how much you want to spend first and how much you want your payments to be. From there go to a Bank or a credit union and just shop rates. Find the one with the best rate that applies to you and talk to them and tell them you are buying the car from a private party. They will tell you how to handle it and then shop for a car in the price range of the money they apporve you for.
