Hmmm.. I'm in a simliar situation, without the yelling and agression, I serve as thier maid, put in 30+ hrs a week, and I'm still a highschool student. I have 2 guys DYING to room with me next summer. But my mindset should be simliar to mine, ermm vis-versa. Just look dude, grin and bare-it for now, but be shopping, for a roomate, an apartment, a better job. even if you love what you do, sometimes, you gotta chase the money.

Like everyone else said, definately a tough situation to be in... my advice is start asking around at school and making friends, try to find someone to room with. Gotta have a mail room with bulletin boards on campus, there's always ads there of people looking for roommates, that might be your best bet.

I wouldn't stay and put up with it if I were you, it's simply not an environment that's healthy for you to be in with everything else going on, it will affect work and school both if things follow the current path. Trust me on this, been there done that (only it was living on campus with horrible roommates). Once I moved off campus and was able to control my surroundings better, things were 500% better.

As much as it sucks, I also suggest that you find an apartment. Yes, any loan sucks when you have to pay it back, but at the point you're at, you need to focus on school above EVERYTHING else, including work. If you have to take an extra couple thousand on in debt, so that you can quit your job and pass your classes (versus having to work, getting sleep deprived, and failing them), take the extra money.

As much as it sucks, I would even go so far as to sell your car and pick up a cheap little beater, just to free up the funds and remove the desire to put money into the car.

Gonz got it about right, it's the empty nester thing, and you are gonna fly if it takes my foot up your to do it. It's less hassle to move out and then lay a guilt trip on your folks for money. Hey look you kicked me out; you want me to be homeless. Trust me it works. Mom I'm not really getting enough to eat, because I have to pay the water bill......Son you must learn the art of payback!

Great post. I completely agree.

I dont know how it will be tough to move out on your own. That is the best thing to do. Get off the nipple (as me and my brothers always say)! You are going to have to break the tie sooner or later, may as well be now. Trust me, it a lot nicer to be able to come and go as you please and not have to listen to anyone bitching about anything to you. Your place is your place and you can keep as you wish. Should you move out, I'd bet you will be saying "what the fuck was even pondering this for" in less than a month!

And on the loan note, unless you are some super athlete, are Einstien's Son, or Daddy is super rich and pays the college bills in cash, I dont know one person who hasnt had to take out some sort of loan. Its not that big a deal.
