Ok computer guys help me out

Ok so I just moved into my new apt at school. And Im trying to get a power point archive from one of my professors through a torrent he uploaded. However when I run mutorrent (or emule for that matter) I either get super slow or no download speed. Checked the error messages and all the ports are closed pretty much. Anyone know how to either open up a port or get around the ISP im on a LAN line no router and no firewall I know of. So help me out guys

i'm going to assume windows firewall is letting your torrent program through?

If thats not the case. your ISP might be blocking your torrents (or limiting the speed of them).

it could very well be your network administrator's settings on your connection if your just connecting to an ethernet line at your apartment and it has no router.. i would check windows firewall.. too.. he makes a good point.. is the line you connect with just come straight out of the wall or does it come from a modem?

ISP's are cock suckers that way. Change the port that your torrent application uses for peer connection. u may need ot get a router just to set up the port forwarding so your isp cant tell what your using on that port. routers are nice that way.

Green. tell me what your anti virus software is. are you running a third part fire wall or internet security suite and go into your control panel and DISABLE windows firewall its about as useless as a black shirt in a wet t-shirt contest.

if you have a modem in your apt, your modem is going to have a firewall that youll have to setup to allow the ports

even under the Norton antivirus there is still a piss poor fire wall in it that fucks with our connectivity go in your options if you see anything that pertains ot a firewall disable it and try again. also make sure your torrent client is up to date. older clients have issues connecting to peers with newer client versions.

i reccoment azureus for torrent downloads.

it must be an isp issue. port blocking most do this to prevent file sharing apps. ull have ot change your connecting port in the torrent application. use 8080 most isp's dont block that because its an admin back door port to manage networks.

its free for a reason. it doesn't see as much development. it causes blue screen on allot of systems and it does not catch as much as some good pay antiviruses

No, not the free version. The one you pay for.
