went and shot my new rifle today (pics inside)

went and shot my new rifle today. 2nd time ive had it out. it is a remington 700pss .300wm with a leupold mk4 m3 10x42. i tested it out to 500 today with some of my handloads. heres a couple pics of the targets and one of the gun.

500 yrds: 70.0gr reloader 22, 200 grain sierra mkhp moly coated, federal brass

500 yrds: 71.0gr rl22, 200gr sierra mkhp moly coated, federal brass

500 yrds: factory remington 180gr core lokt

this stuff did as well as the handloads, but when i switched to handloads, i had allready put 20 rounds through the gun and my shoulder was getting a little sore. i think im gonna put a brake on this thing. the recoil isnt bad, but after 20 or so rounds, i find myself starting to flinch just a tad therefor throwing my groups off.

ps: the sticker on those targets is off of a banana, and the only thing i could ifnd in my truck to compare sizes too. its a little over the size of a dime

NIce man... Wish I lived somewhere I could shoot something fun. Only thing I can shoot around here is a 12 guage from 30 and various handguns. Not to mention you cant hunt with rifles here... I need to move to another state.

Those are some very nice groups, you could kill a gypsy at that distance

There must not have been too much wind that day, what are your measurements of the groups?

i didnt measure the groups. i do not have a set of calipers so i just didnt worry about it. there was no wind today at all. was 88 degrees with about 50% humidity, it was pretty much perfect. i set up in my truck bed, and i have a big canopy i set up over the bed to block all the sun and its perfect. couldnt have asked for a better day. the leupold scope will be for sale shortly so i can get a nightforce and after this barrel is dead, im gonna hop it up quite a bit

When it wears out after 3,500rds I would send it to GAP... they seem to be the favorite over at sniperhide. And if that Mark IV is in good shape, I might take it off your hands to put on a remington 5r

Dont have any cats, they kept eating the pot plants so I shot them off myself... But if you guys want to see real guns I will roll the aston out there and show you the .50 cal option that came with it ( I dont ever get to use it though since I live in the city so my groupings will be about a mile long ).

Nightforce 5.5-22x56 NXS.... If I could do it again, I would get the same thing but a 50mm objective instead of the 56. Nightforces are already so bright, the one I have is almost washed out a little on bright days but great at night
