Cuban athlete kicks referee in face

Matos angrily questioned the call, pushed a judge, then pushed and kicked referee Chakir Chelbat of Sweden, who will require stitches in his lip. Matos spat on the floor and was escorted out.

“This is an insult to the Olympic vision, an insult to the spirit of taekwondo and, in my opinion, an insult to mankind,” Yang said.

Matos’ coach was unapologetic.

“He was too strict,” Leudis Gonzalez said, referring to the decision to disqualify Matos. Afterward, he charged the match was fixed, accusing the Kazakhs of offering him money.

hahahah, im a blackbelt,from the world taekwondo federation,in tkd matches u get disqaulfied all the time for stupid shit,i got disqualifed at the all californa tournment ,for exxesive force,being to agrresive,wtf,those judges pick sides

That's pretty uncalled for... unfair or not, there's no excuse for doing something like that. Martial arts has a lot to do with honor, integrity, respect, and control this guy definately doesn't belong in it and a lifetime ban is well deserved.

I saw this yesterday on the news. It was funny as hell. I rewinded it about 8 times... The annucer at the end says "Its a rule, you will be disqualified if you kick a ref in the head"...

a life time ban isn't sufficient. that is assult and bettery my friend. if one of us would have done that to someone we'd be sitting in jail right now

The guy is a moron! He took longer than a minute because he was 'hurt' but jumped right up and gave the ref a boot to the face.
