this is NOT a who would win thread.

this guy i met a few days ago was saying his 3.5L nissan maxima se has the same engine as the 350z. is that true? i cant find much on google. also what are the nissan maxima se's statistics?

its maxima btw, not sure about the engine though. But I wouldnt think so.

the funny thing is that he was talking about doing figure 8's and how he would go from 1 to 2 to 1 to 2 etc so to keep the wheel spinning, but i looked in the window and it was a auto

Yes it its. They share the VQ35 engine. Only difference is it's setup to be transverse in the Maxima (and 3.5L Altimas).

ok quick question: how can a 3.5L v6 ( assuming its stock) get these numbers?

1/4 Mile ET: 14.356
1/4 Mile MPH: 95.410
1/8 Mile ET: 9.243
1/8 Mile MPH: 77.470
0-60 Foot ET: 2.176

from what i see the 2009 maxima is rated 290 hp while the 350z is a little over 300hp. probably the same motor with a different tune. like my 1988 suzuki katana 1100, it has the GSX-R based motor with smaller cams and carbs

Because it's a DOHC V6 that's not crippled to make a V8 look better. In stock trim makes something like 285hp at the crank. The newer version, the VQ35HR I think it is, makes over 300 at the crank.

Internals are actually a little different - they set it up to pull a little more rpm, and be a lot smoother doing it.

its pretty new. prob 04 05 06.

im really sure it was auto b/c it had the shifter that goes P R N D... unless thats how riceland makes their manuels...

I race one the other day. I beat it, of course, but it totally threw me off guard the way it hung with me. Yes it is the 350z engine, it's just tuned different and it's transverse for the fwd setup. To be what they are, they're damn quick.
