Screwed!

The stealership lied to me. They said they'd fix the mid pipe which they did. Then they said they'd fix the manifold after 3 visits to their sorry asses. Now they say that they arent going to pay for it and it will cost $490 for a new manifold and labor to put it on. Bullshit!

He said the manifold isnt even cracked. He said that its "warped" right at the engine block. I think they did it! When the asshole mechanic couldnt take my exhaust apart for the mid pipe, he just let the whole damn thing "hang" from the bottom of the car. I bet its not "warped", I bet its bent!

I have no recourse on this. DAMN! I have to drive this POS now sounding like this and getting shitty gas mileage.

Call in and talk to the manager. Tell them that they screwed up and you want it fixed for free. If he declines and argues it's not there fault then ask for his boss's name and number. Call him and go through the same process. Go up the ladder as far as you have to (this process takes FOREVER).

I did this once and got all the way up to the VP of sales. I talked to about 6-8 different people for 3.5 hours total. Once I got to the VP of sales, told him what happened and he said it would be fixed free of cost. His time was worth more than giving the part away for free.

dont bother with the dealership get a hold of somone higher up than them(probably the ford rep for that area), go to the ford website and look for contact information and see if you can speak to somone, or write a letter about how pissed you are. just get in contact with somone higher than the dealership and bitch your heart out... they will give you a case # that you bring to the dealership and they will fix it for free, under warranty basicly

i process warranty claims for GM i see it ALL the time, its just like not getting a refund at walmart and bitching to walmart corporate and they refund your money. big business will ALWAYS settle in favor of the customer even if they know the customer is wrong, it keeps the customer happy and his mouth shut!

I was thinking maybe I should man up and try to replace it myself. Technically its no more difficult than changing an air filter but its the "physical" part that scares me. Like bolts breaking an djust getting at the thing.

BTW- I stopped by autozone and they gave me a price of $109 for the passenger side exhaust manifold. At the places I called to get estimates on installing it, they said the part would cost $250 or so. Why would AZ be so much lower? Think the guy running the computer f'd up or something? Does that seem low?

I would be hitting up the service manager face to face for satisfaction. And no, I'm not making a subliminal suggestion about forcing him to give you oral.

Not this time.

Im going to try to smack Detroit in the balls first before doing anything myself. Hopefull that will resolve this. But if it doesn't, really,... how difficult is changing a manifold? Are there alot of things to go wrong? Would it help if I took some pictures of the engine and exhaust so you can make a judgment of the condition its in? The reason I say that is because its got 80k miles now. I cant see any rusted bolts but who knows if they are ceased up at this point. Too many damn questions. Why cant one of you bastards live down this way!

Difficulty is relative to your mechanical level of expertise, and the particular vehicle you are working on. Having had 4 years or so of apprenticeship under my belt, and a lot of time wrenching on cars, to me it's no big deal. As for changing it on your particular car, I've not done a manifold on an 04 Vg Mustang, so I don't know the difficulty incurred in said mechanical confabulation as compared to confabulating said manifolds on other vehicular conveyances.

mine was 109 from autozone its not a ford part is why it is cheaper but just call ford the company bitch tell them it is louder than when you brought it in so u know it has been bent since you took it in for repairs and they will take care of it
