Army guys, in here!

I have always thought about this and it has been really on my mind alot more recently.

I think I might want to join the Army for 2 years or so... maybe longer.

I am just looking for any advice you would give me.

Scout and Armory really interested me when I filled out their questionaire...

What are some things required I need to know about before joining the army?

I'm just trying to get an idea... I might make a trip to a recruit office close by to talk about some things...

and you sign up for 8 years usually, 4 active and 4 reserve, but you can move around which is longer, your active duty or your reserve time

No matter what you enlist for they have an 8 year period after your contract that they can call you back.. It was like this when I first enlisted and it is the same sense I just re-enlisted.. It works like this.. If you sign for 3 then they can call you back 5 years after your first enlistment if you decide not to re-enlist. It always goes in intervals of 8.. You need to study for the asvab and score high.. Be able to pass the recruiter PT test because if you do they can give you E-2 before you leave for basic and that means more money.. If you can get someone to enlist with you then you can make E-3 before you leave.. If you have a degree then you can join as E-4 before you leave.. When you get the little pamphlets and books from Meps READ THEM! They have all the ranks and shit you will need to know in them.. Don't fall for bullshit DONT SIGN ANYTHING UNTIL YOU COME BACK HERE AND TELL US WHAT YOUR WERE TOLD!! WE ARE ONLY TRYING TO LOOK OUT FOR YOU BECAUSE RECRUITERS LIE!! THEY ALL FUCKIN LIE!! If he tells you that you can only get this.. I guarentee you can most likely get more, He just wants to get you processed and in the Army ASAP so he dont have to look at you anymore and can go back to his donuts.. DO NOT SETTLE FOR SOMETHING BECAUSE THEY WILL GIVE YOU WHAT YOU WANT IF YOU GET UP AND START TO WALK AWAY!! The best thing to do is not give them your phone #.. Tell them I will think it over and get up and walk out, they need you more then you need them.. When you go to the career counsler tell him/her that this is what you want (MOS/Job) and you are not taking anything else.. They won't tell you no unless you didn't score high enough. They cannot tell you no unless they can't put you in it because it is either full or you didn't score high enough.. If they try to tell you shit like "You don't want that, or You can get better.." then get up and start to walk away.. They will stop you and give you what you want and if they don't then go to another counsler.. First and foremost BRING YOUR ASS BACK HERE AND TELL ME WHAT THEY TOLD YOU!! Watch out for your wagon wheel bud. jk but seriously I had a one eyed guy lol every time he walked out I would say "arggg matie" you will hurry up and wait, you will do the duck walk in your underoos. you will ask yourself why am I up at 4:30 and sit for hours before any real activity begins.(thats just meps. basic training is diff)

Yea my recruiter is driving me down to Little Rock so at least I don't have to do the bus thing. And I get to head back as soon as I am done and not have to wait on the other jokers.

No you will wait while you are there. I dont know how your state did it but they made everyone stay the night and start at o' 500 regarless.

Yea I will wait around while I am there. but i already did the ASVAB and arkansas has a one day proccessing deal for guys that take it before they go. physical at 5:30 am when I get there. then lunch at 11-12 then wait my turn for the guidance counselor. Recruiter said they usualy get back around 5-7pm same day.

BE CAREFUL WITH THE CAREER COUNSLER!! KNOW WHAT YOU WANT AND STICK TO YOUR GUNS!! THEY CANT TELl YOU NO IF YOU ARE QUALIFIED FOR WHAT YOU WANT!! MAKE THEM SHOW YOU ON THE COMPUTER WHAT YOU CAN HAVE!!
