johnny depp is an amazing actor and i could see him being an awesome joker. if he can master jack sparrow, the joker is just a step further than that

I can't really see either the Penguin or Riddler translating very well to the current generation of Batman movies. They're both just too goofy of characters to work in the serious/trying to be as realistic as possible universe that has been created so far. The Joker made sense, as he's the ultimate sociopath. Two-face made sense, as he's someone driven to schizophrenic psychosis via his injury. Heck, even the Scarecrow makes sense the way they did him.

I would think that they'd want to use villians with more depth to them. Killer Croc would be a good one, he's not evil per se, just driven to extreme measures. Mr. Freeze could also be done very well, so long as they don't result to the idiocy of a "freeze ray" and stick to the concept of a very intelligent man robbed of his humanity by the loss of his love and the loss of human contact due to the suit.

But who I'd *really* like to see done justice is Catwoman. Halle Berry may be a wonderful actress, but that last Catwoman movie was a piece of poo. I'd really like to see the whip-weilding cat burgler, the one that's not evil, or super-powered, but just a very athletic and intelligent person (which means she shouldn't be some big-breasted bimbo) who happens to lack the Wayne Empire's financial backing, and thus has to provide her finances through less than legal means. You're not sure if she's a good-guy or a bad guy, and that conflict allows you to create a lot of depth in the character.

well you also have to consider how goofy the joker has been in the past. original tv show, the cartoons, etc.

in the comic books which the current story line has stayed very true to minus a few details each one of the villians is a goofy,nutball, homicidal lunatic.

what seperates the ridller from the joker though is explained in the dark knight. the joker wanted chaos, nothing more, nothing less. He truly is the dark knights polar oppisite... iss depp would have been the joker i wouldn't have been able to go to sleep at night, hand downs, but the riddler doesn't have the bing bang boom that character has

Funny you mention the cartoons. I find Mark Hammil's Joker (yes, Luke Skywalker did the voice of the Joker for the animated series) to be the best of any of the Jokers. It was the MOST sociopathic and "true" to the feel of the force of chaos that the Joker is supposed to be.

Of course, take my opinion with a grain of salt: my least favorite Joker by far is Nicholson. I think he played the Joker as evil and just downright mean, which I don't believe the Joker is supposed to be. He's not mean, he just has no concept of harming/killing as 'bad', and it's all part of the game to him.

the first 2 were badass but screwwy. shumacer ruined the series with the last too. the cast barely pulled it out of the gutter. lets not even talk about clooney and his faux paux.

personally, i like the adam west movie the best
