GPS anyone?
i've been looking to get a GPS for my cars, and i was wondering who all has one? what does everyone recommend? i've got a few bookmarked on my home computer, but i'm at work right now. i don't need something smarter than i am, just really need one for the simple fact that mapquest sucks big hairy donkey dick, and with me possibly moving to a new area here in the future, it'd be a helpful tool...

Garmin is the ONLY way to go. I use a Nuvi 200W, because I don't have any use for all the options on the higher priced ones. The 700T gives traffic advisories, has an MP3 playes, bluetooth, ect...... That is stuff you'll never use, and costs twice as much. The 200W gives you the widescreen, and has the same database for half the money.

we have the ![]() its a great system. its a little bulky compared to the newer one but it does the same exact things. calculates speed, distance, tells you what time you are going to arrive to the destination |

whatever you do DONT buy a tomtom i did it was on sale now i know why. this thing might find the street you want 75% of the time but thats as close as your getting. 90% of the points of intrest are as far as 4 blocks off. i got mine and got the newest maps and corrections and it still does not show the walmart supercenter in town thats been here for 5 years. we tried it out by having it direct us to my wifes parents house in the middle of nowhere and well it got us there but it took about 45 minutes longer then it should have.

for example. on the way home from college we decided to take a different route (since there are so many ways to go, turnpike, come up from the south etc.) and all took 2 hours. well we went on rt 30 i think, its been there forever. well on the GPS it showed us driving on no road in the middle of nowhere and kept on recalculating. we got home and updated the maps and the next time we drove passed it, the road was there |

That does happen but was that road included with the update? my bro updated his and said there wasnt much added that was useful to him. I live right outside nyc too so its pretty populated and they got most of the roads here.

yeah that road was. you do live in a populated area and where i went to school it wasn't very populated. just an hour south was Amish country so that should tell you how populated it was. there was a lot of roads that werent there before that were added

I have a Nextar , I just used it on my trip to Oregon. I like it because it tells you where the nearest gas stations, restaurants, and Hotels are. It tells me how fast I am going, how long its gonna take me to reach my destination and a ETA. plus its widescreen and its a really slim instead of the huge bulky tomtoms.
