There's a difference between cocky and showing off. It may not be a big one, but's a very noticeable one.

I completely disagree, being cocky is simply having to much confidence. Showing off, is when you go out of your way to prove yourself, or brag about what you can do or have. Everybody has their own interpretations.

cocky = you think you're the best and go out of your way to show people that

confident = you know you're the best and don't need to prove anything to anyone

for example, 2 ppl playin basketball.. 1 man is cocky, the other is confident.. the cocky man talks shit about the other while the confident man merely challenges him to put his money where is mouth is
