Mustang Dyno vs Dynojet
Just wondering whats everyone take on it...
Finally Dynoed My Car... I am at the limits of my svt focus pump today on the dyno...I made 382/381 on a Mustang Dyno...I have always heard the pumps were good for 440 or so RWHP but mine is done at 382rwhp/381rwtq...Is this because most of the ratings I have heard with the Focus Pump were tuners who ran dynojets? Is it true that there is a 10% or so difference in power from the Mustang Dyno To The DynoJet? So my 382/381 would be about 420/415 on a dynojet? Am I right in this statment? Just wondering... I searched but found nothing of value on this subject... |

i've always heard that Mustang dynos will read lower than Dynojets because they can be loaded to compensate for real world conditions. that's why they're known as "heart-breaker dynos"...

Sorry if this is sorta off topic, what is better than a svt focus pump that would work in our cars?

Mustang is a true measure of torque.
DynoJets read whp and use engine rpm to calculate torque. Teh dynojet has no way of simulating vehicle load at speed. When you get the rollers rolling, it takes no more hp from the car to keep it there. The Mustang Dyno had the ability to artificially load the rollers to simulate car weight at speed, more closely representative of what is take to keep a XXXXlb car moving at speed. Both have correction factors but Mustang (or any load dyno) should give a better real world reading. Once you are tuned on a Mustang, there is little chance of it running leaner on the street then on the dyno like a DynoJet. Load dynos also run sweep tests in steady state mode which is a much slower and easier to read test. And they have more plot points and are a true measure of trq. And I stumbled upon this: DynoJet, Mustang Dyno | Editorials Blog & Discussions at Muscle Mustang and Fast Fords Magazine |

dynojets make people feel good, and mustang dynos give a good tune. i dont know about you but id rather have a good solid tune. a dyno is only a tool for tuning but people get caught up on getting horsepower and torque numbers out of them
