home made air induction

today out of boredome my buddy and i decided to fabricate an air intake for my cavalier. once i got the factory crap off i couldn't believe how restrictive it was. the whole project cost $20 or less since the K&N 9" conical filter i had laying around. i'm so pleased with the turnout, it looks real professional. and on another note, being built from pvc and rubber fittings it won't retain the heat those shiny store bought ones do. there is a noticeable hp increase but it seems like more of a torque factor. the little 2.2 seems to have a little more pull in whatever gear you happen to be in.

i know i need to get some pics up soon. our picee of shit cannon is broke again so i'll have to use a disposible. the great thing about this thread is it's a weekend afternoon, a few beers (who's counting), $20-$30 and you have a killer mod that not only improves hp and torque but gas mileage as well (if you can help from driving the car harder.)

the problem is heat retention. this is the intake we fabbed for my coupe and it drew 100% less heat from the motor giving it a cooler, denser charge than your shiny metal fancy units.

no, i just find paint don't hold up well to engine bay temps. my air induction tube ie white. by choice? hell no! but with the K&N sticker it looks respectible.

75 shot and it's on! demello, here i come!

i'm the first to say i think it's retarded for a couple of 16-17 second cars to battle it out but i must say, i went out last night about 1:00am to get some bottled water and i ended up next to a mid '90s 3 door civic. the fucking car had every aftermarket option from the fart can, stereo system, wheels ect. ect...

i caught him at the light and and dumped the clutch at about 5500rpm and totally waxed his ass with my work car. i wish you could see it. there's clearcoat flying off the hood as i'm smoking his ass. it was just a good old redneck moment of fun!
