i dont know. im 17 and some of my friends think it is cool to not wear one. i wear one ALL the time and when a passenger in my car doesnt wear one, i will drive hard and turn sharp and shit to scare the shit out of them just because some people need a damn wake up call. not wearing one puts a larger burden on our hospitals and funerals out there. we lose valuable members and contributors to society everyday because they refuse to buckle up. i think fines for not buckling up should be much higher than the 75 dollars it is around here in E GA

I don't think it should be the law for me to wear a seatbelt. I will not let anyone wear a seatbelt in my Mustang.

b/c it doesnt have seatbelts or b/c you dont like the law?

the reason it is a law is because society depends on useful and productive members not getting hurt all the time. basically, a law is broken when an act of self intrest that does not benefit society is performed. that is why it is illegal to not wear seatbelts. not wearing a seatbelt can in no way benefit society like wearing one can. it is a crime against humanity i guess

No seat belts in the 66 Mustang lol. If it is for the better for all of us, then why don't school buses have them? If I want to drive a unsafe car(66 Mustang) they don't stop me. I don't think it is right for the state to tell me by gun point, that I have to wear a seat belt.

not by gun point lol. but the gov't makes the rules and b/c of money allowances, they dont make them for busses or commercial transportation for that matter. it isnt fair, but it makes sense. you have more chance of dieing in a car than a bus or or subway b/c of no seatbelt.

but emissions and safety testing only goes back like 15-17 years because dmv thinks vehicles older than that are undesirable and not driven. boy are they wrong!

Because school buses are manufactured with so much more strength and safety features already in mind than a car is. The history channel did a special on school buses a while back. Blue Bird had them touring the plant and they discussed the safety features - which are set to tougher standards than for any passenger automobile, and they pass with more than enough to satisfy state and federal safety specifications.

There was a proposal in the senate that some buses should be required to have seat belts. They were going by weight. If the vehicle is more than 10,000 pounds it should have seat belts. I don't know if it has been passed or what has happened.

That is interesting, I will have to see if I can find that. W/all the accidents that seem to plague the tidewater area maybe that should start on school buses asap.

It is safer to drive in a car with out a seatbelt then ride my Harley. Don't give me that trash that I have to wear my seatbelt for the better of society. If I don't They could throw me in jail. What is wrong with you guys? Is it good to wear your seatbelt........yes. Should it be a law........Hell no. Maybe they should make a law that you should not over eat or No drink beer. It would be for the better of society. School buses can run off the road or get hit by a train and the poor kids inside go flying like a bird. Buses need seatbelts.

it is better for society to wear a seatbelt. name a circumstance where not wearing a seatbelt is more beneficial to society than wearing one.

Freedom to do what you want. That is it in a nut shell. It don't hurt you if I don't wear a seatbelt. What do you care? I do think that kids should wear seatbelts and babys should be in carseats.

that is what makes it a crime. it doesnt hurt you, but it does hurt society. it is burdensome for the gov't or people to pay for a poor person who gets in a wreck for not wearing a seatbelt, then have to pay for his medical expenses. seeing as how hospitals can't turn away patients, but patients can stroll in without insurance and be hurt from a preventable act such as not wearing a seatbelt- this makes it a crime. i think it is a fair crime. the social benefits of wearing a seatbelt far outweigh the personal benefits of not wearing one
