Wireless card

I bought a new netopia wireless card. How do I set up my laptop to connect to the net through it and not my internal wireless card?

disable your internal wireless card on your control panel>network connections. Right click on the internal wireless card that you have and then clicking on disable.

Then install your new wireless card's drivers and if you want to use the software it comes with to connect to the internet that's cool but I would rather prefer using the windows zero configuration.

+1

Disable Windows wireless manager and install the software and/or drivers for the aircard. It may have came with a disc. Most aircards now-a-days will automatically install everything if no disc is provided once the air card is inputed into the laptop.

You can also disable the Wireless Manager from your task bar instead of going in your control panel.

Go to your task bar at the bottom right hand of the screen. Click on the computer that has an "x" through it. That is your network connectivity. Why are you wanting to use an external aircard as opposed to your internal? Is your network wireless n and your internal is not?

There is no reason you should use an external aircard when you have one built in. Unless you're trying to get wireless n and your computer's not capable.

My office is a good ways away from the router where I work, and my signal sucks balls. And my boss refuses to upgrade. So I bought a card in hopes that it would get a better signal.

you would need a wireless access point. getting an external card won't do anything. Look into getting an access point to boost your signal

i work on pc's vista is just new and hard to work on

and your network administrators need to go into the router to boost it more or just get him to buy a range booster
