ive installed little things like a plenum cai and thrortle body but nothing major. It is always nice when something breaks and you can just bring it somewhere to get fixed then to try to troubleshoot what i could have done wrong

i did it all when i rebuilt my motor, except for the machine work, inwhich i have tried to hone my own block, but that shit is better left to the pros. my biggest weakspot is electricl.. i hate messing with electricl stuff

some people are really intimidated by motors, i was, but my shit blew up, i couldnt affored to have a machanic fix it, so i did my reasearch, thats the key read any and every thing you can about your car. engine work is really simple stuff to do, its just a big puzzle really. just make sure every thing is right, and never ever ever work on a car pissed off, thats how shit get broke

I installed my blower and pulled the motor on my vw to change some seals. Being that all my work is done in the driveway and the tools are stored in the basement, I think Im gonna hold off on the larger projects for now til I have a garage to work in. Next project is a motor swap.

only thing I paid to have done on my car is my subframes welded on... but then again, I never have gone inside the motor for anything...

As long as no real engine work is required, I'm game. So far I've done my X-pipe, catback, and springs. My subframe connectors I took to a shop because I don't own nor do I know how to properly operated a welder, but that's it so far. My friend always helps me when it comes to my car though. Once I finally save up enough money for a blower, I'll be doing that myself with the help from my friend as well. Now headers for example, I'll take to a shop simply because I don't have the proper equipment to drop the motor.

on thing i have paid to get done on my car is subframe connectors ( and the 8 point cage this winter will be done professionally)
My parents had the clutch put in it, but i didnt pay for it, they didnt htink i could do it, now after having the motor out and the tranny and everything they understand i can do anything with my car as long as i have the correct tools. DOne a pushrod now, and three of these modualr motors...

I try to do everything myself with bolt ons. If it comes to the heads, the engine block, or rear end I'll leave it to a skilled mechanic. I bolted on my own blower, which was probably the biggest feat I've ever tackled, but it wasn't that bad.

The only thing I paid to get done, that I didn't have to re-do, was the SFC. I paid for my Spec and my gears to be installed. The clutch lasted about 4 months before the TOB fell apart, and the gears lasted about a week before the pinion seal started leaking. I just finished replacing them myself. Also, put my line-loc and shifter in myself. Those were a piece of cake though. Priced having some springs put in, and the shop wanted 250 bucks for labor. You can imagine how that conversation went. Just gonna do everything myself from now on.

My pay to personally done ratio is about 50/50.
Paid for: longtubes x pipe cat-back dyno tune *The only reason I paid for the x pipe and cat back is because at the time I had nowhere to do anything myself. I was still living at home and my mom/step-dad would freak on me if I got the garage messy or took my car apart in the driveway. I've done myself: intake tb/plenum springs and a few other small cosmetic things. Now that my Mustang isnt my daily driver anymore, I'm more willing to tear into it and try to do shit myself. The rush of having it back together to drive the next day isnt there anymore, which is very very nice. Edit: I'm actually getting ready to tackle one of my biggest fears for whatever reason, and thats working on brakes. I know that its a cake walk, but it scares me to do anything major to them. I'll be installing new Brembo rotors, new calipers, and new pads. Later on I'd like to do some new braided steel lines too.
