My best guess would be the driver was going fast, slid out of control, and hit something solid, like a pole or a tree.

I hate to admit it, but my first impression wasn't like most people's reactions such as "OMG! I hope no one got hurt or died!" Mine was more like, "Atleast the wheels are still good!"

I've been at accidents where the car was cut completely in half. Not pretty.
