Candidates OR party ideals.

Republicans are supposedly the party of the "moral majority", but can you show me a Democrat in power at the federal level that at least doesn't claim to be religious, or even to not be Christian?

Democrats are supposedly for larger government and advocates of socialist programs, but can you show me a Republican at the federal level that actually votes for a reduction of federal powers?

Republicans are supposedly pro-life, but it's Democrats that supposedly oppose the death penalty.

Democrats supposedly are for personal privacy, but it's Republicans that are supposedly opposed to a socialized healthcare system (and thus the government having access to all of your medical records).

Republicans are supposedly more fiscally responsible, but it's under Democratic leadership that money is brought in, and the national debt actually decreases.

And as far as a Republican who will vote for smaller government, I know Ron Paul would, but he doesn't hold any office right now.
