I hate doing this..
...but its semi-urgent. I posted this in the 5.0 section as well... sorry guys :-/
So guys. I decided I wanted to buy a Fox Hatch for a project/resto car. I put an ad out on craigslist, saying I was looking for a Fox Hatch, in restorable condition, engine not required etc, etc. Well last night I recieved an email froma guy saying he had an '89 LX body for sale, and here's what I gathered: It's in decent shape, he refered to it as "solid" He has all interior Passenger side front floor needs "replating" Light blue interior, dark blue exterior Exterior is "solid" It was a 4cyl, converted to an 8 For an extra $100.00 he'd throw in an Auto Trans (3 speed, yes car is set-up for auto) The frame is rust-free There is some rust on the inner front fenders (but they're replaceable, correct?) Hes selling it because he doesnt have the room to finish it with all the other projects he is working on... Says he got it for a "decent price" and isnt looking to make a killing on it, an is trying to sell it for about what he'd get from a junkyard for it. I have the following questions sent to him, but am still waiting a reply. Is it a hatch or a notch? (kind of a big deal, love hatches, notches bother me) Is the frame twisted, torqued, or bent in anyway? Is the trans out of the 4cyl or the 8? Now in hearing that, you're all thinking "yeah, so?" well the part that's got me is... He said he's wanting only $150.00 for it. Why so cheap? Part of me says "Dude, deal of a lifetime" the other says "Haha, where's the catch?" I've seen cars, without an engine, in pretty bad shape go for $900.00. What do you all think? Know of anything else I should ask him? |

These are some other terms which I eventually deciphered the meaning of...not all are true all of the time, but most are most of the time:
Patina = Rust Solid Body = Solid Bondo Rust Free = Lots of rust, no extra charge Surface Rust = Rust around the edges of the rust holes, but technically there is no rust in the hole since it is just air. Original Interior = A rusty spring is going to poke you in the ass. OG = "Oh Gee, what a piece of crap" Restored = I just spent $400 at JC Whitney Just make sure he has the title for it.

Does it still have a title?
Got any pics? Hell if it is too bad of shape, you could probably sell some stuff off of it, and still make $500 or more profit..

He hasnt gotten back to my email about the title yet... It is a hatch, says the frames fine, and they adjusted the springs to support the weight of the v8 when they converted it. I believe sometime tommorrow he is going out of town, so he said he'll get me pics sunday or monday.

I'm in the same boat as you, I've been looking for a 87-93 roller to put the drivetrain from my car into since June '07
<--------- that car. The front of it isn't in the picture because its wrecked... ![]() I have probably looked at over 25 mustangs trying to find the right one... most are basketcases or they are stripped and built for racing. I am looking for something to rebuild my daily driver.
