Auto-Zone?

A couple weeks ago my Service Engine Soon light came on. I haven't been too alarmed as there has been no problems as far as the engine has been running. One of my friend's mentioned to me that Auto-Zone does free diagnostics checks? Is this true?

yup and if you ask they will give you a print out detailing the problem and ways to fix it. I guessing yours is a rear 02 sensor code

Auto Zone doesn't do free tests anymore, something to do with some BS emissions law, and I've called about five in my area and they all told me the same thing. It COULD be only in California though, so it never hurts to ask. Even if you live here, which I see you don't, you should still call because you never know .

Auto-Zone DOES do diagnostics checks, free ones. I've been told that I need a new EGR Vacuum Solenoid, and Valve Pressure Sensor... anyone know how big of a job this is? If I can do it on my own? I have the Haines repair guide, but haven't looked yet.

Well when my CEL turned on, I called Auto Zone and they told me the couldn't check it for free anymore, and I called more than one in my area, I called the closest five and received the same response from all of them. Like I said, it could be different in other states.
