As it should be. You would not believe how many people I get that roll up beside me and then stay there, right beside the bogeys or the drives....shit, sometimes I will click the cruise down or up a couple notches, and they will stay right there.....like there is a gigantic magnet on the side of the trailer or tractor keeping them from passing me. Drives us nuts.

Why would you want to hang around a vehicle that weighs 40 tons or more? But people are that stupid.

correct..that will never happen as my boss tells us on a weekly basis"truck drivers are a dime a dozen"....it motivates us really well....look the big trucking companies...turn the trucks down to 62mph giving the driver a longer work day for the same or less $$$$$ for bigger profits..since gas has gone down $1 gallon do you think it was changed

Exactly. It will never change. When the trucking industry was deregulated and unions became less prevalent, the drivers lost all their power. And with the advent of just in time freight and the reduction in warehousing, there are so many trucks on the road now that you could never get all the drivers to stick together. Which is too bad. If you were to park every truck in the US for a week, the economy would collapse and there would be riots at stores.

I would disagree. Everyone has their choices of what cities are the worst, but I can tell you that on average, that having been to most of them, all the big cities are bad. It doesn't really matter where you go.

Some cities definitely have crazier drivers than others. Boston drivers are far crazier than Chicago or Atlanta drivers. As are drivers in Montreal.

Yep that's how they do it. I worked for a large American company's Canadian freight division for about 3 years, back in the early 90's. I had to do their orientation in Daleville, IN. Down around 35 miles north of the circle.

It was a one week orientation. And during that time, it was a constant stream of newbies, in classes 60, 70, and 80 strong, rolling through there. I would be outside having a smoke, talking to 'driver trainers', who were training guys how to drive....when they had not been driving truck for a year themselves. I cannot describe to you how retarded most of the people in these 'classes' were. I could type paragraphs about some of the morons I saw and talked to in class. In these classes of 60 or 70 people, typically about 5 or 10 would have 5 years or more experience. Every other single one had never driven a truck in their lives. But they knew it all.

And this was just at the head office terminal. They had these classes rolling at 12 terminals across the country, every single week, pumping out 'drivers' that shouldn't be allowed to pilot a tricycle, let alone a 53 foot trailer driving around the country.

Yeah. It's unreal. Whenever you rolled in to any of our terminals, the gravel lot out behind the shop was full of destroyed tractors and trailers. The worst part is, guys die because of this shit. One year we had 12 drivers killed in accidents. Twelve. That's unacceptable at any size company.

Wouldn't stop some of these guys. I've tried to help these guys back up in to a parking spot, and you can just tell they should not be behind the wheel. They can't even follow basic hand direction. You tell him to swing the wheel left, he swings it right. You tell him to spin the wheel fast, he gives it a quarter turn. More often than not, after an hour of me trying to get a guy parked, I would just say fuck it, and jump in his truck and park it myself.
