the doctor says i've got a 60-70% chance of making it through the next 5 years. the chances aren't great, but i'm very confident i'll pull through. every year after that, the chances of the cancer coming back decrease.

Wow man, I never knew about this thread or your battle. Your attitude is great and in my opinion as important if not more important than the drugs. You'll beat this shit. No doubt in my mind. Keep your spirits and determination and nothing can beat ya.

i will have to go back and read this thread sometime. this was the only real "diary" i kept of my entire experience with cancer lol

here's a little bit of an update:

it's been over 2 years since i had my last chemo treatment. it took me several months to completely get my health back, but now i am fully healed. i get scans every 4 months now, but they have been clear ever since. my doctors tell me everytime they see me that i had one of the worst cases of mouth cancer they have ever seen, but at this point, you'd never be able to look at me and tell i had mouth cancer. no doctor could tell me with confidence if i would ever be able to eat or drink or talk or even live, so recovering as well as i have is truly a one in a billion chance.

all in all, looking back, i can say it was a horrible, horrible experience beyond words, but i can also say that because of all the things i learned, all the people i met, all the opportunities i was given, and the fact that it helped shaped me into who i am today, i wouldn't take back any of it.
