Yea, Scott I will start pulling the tranny soon... It should be a quick thing to do. But the engine I am going to have to buy a Cherry Picker for first. I got lots going on, but the tranny is a quick 3 hour or less job!

too bad you dont live near me, i could let you borrow mine for a weekend. But since your building a strict drag car, its a good investment for the future.

Well the tranny is out! took us an hour and half to two hours last night. My buddy jeff and I, I should say. Turns out good thing we are doing this, because god damn, my clutch did not want to have anymore nitrous passes... i pulled it out and it was fraying at the end. I have since torn those pieces off, but I dont think the King Cobra Clutch wanted 400+ FPTQ any more... haha

But i will try and get some pictures up of the removal last night.

I will be picking up my 351W on Tuesday after school, before work. Pictures will come of that as well.

Well the time has come! Car is really going to haul balls next season!

More to come tommorow....but damn this has got to be the cleanest engine on the inside i have ever worked on...

I have the parts list for the C4 worked out as well... And will be purchasing as soon as i have enough cash to build it... Turns out the tranny is a 70+ tranny and i can do what i want with it!

Anyway. i will know more about the pistons and rods tomorrow, as i will be pulling these heads off tomorrow durning lunch.

what year block is that? I dont know about the engine being clean. How long since ran? I wonder what the piston walls look like? Any set plans on the engine? I can tell you where to go for a good solid roller cam and heads. Also a great carb if you're going that route. Feel free to PM me and I can give you some details on my 393 build.

yeah, as soon as I hve it apart I can start planning my build... But I should have said the cleanest engine on the inside. All those little crumbs are stff I knocked in. I did not wipe anything out, or anything like that.

Awesome Matt, that sounds like it's going to be pure sex when you get done. I love the Windsor engines.

looks to be a set of 69 heads... C90E are the casting number... Have it down to the short block right now. Once I get back home from school it's all coming apart...

get those heads in the machine shop...Some people like to put those bigger 351 heads on 302 engines...could make a few bucks off them.

Yes. you may call me stupid though, but I may even stay with Iron Heads for right now... That will save me some money, i can have them ported and what not yes, but use that money on the bottom end (408). And then after next season i jump up on the heads. I need to talk to a few guys. There are two guys locally that both build engines for a living. I am going to call Mike, the guy that does all the machine work and what not on the 64 289 heads and see what he thinks. If I don't spend the money i have on the bottom end, and just some forged .030 over pistons, then I will be all set on some nice aluminum heads, but if I need new rods and what not i might just go with a stroker kit for that 1800-2200 bucks and say next year i will jump up the top end. Remember I am limited to 11.50s until I graduate aswell. I am hoping to use my graduation money to put in an 8 point chromoly custom bent cage.

you could use those heads on a stroker motor...However, you won't be able to pull up to the RPMs you could with a better top end. It would have alot of TQ, but not much HP.

I spent about 3700 dollars for my top end. (cam up)...I could have done it ALOT cheaper but I'm doing this build right with all the good shit... I'm hoping for mid to low 9s with nitrous.

Well Scott came over and helped out today! He also picked up some Comp 270s out of my boxes of parts and a T45.

But I think the plan is for a 408 now! It didn't have forged pistons or anything special in it. Although its a Short Deck block. 9.480" deck meaning it will be high compression. So stock headed (mildly ported) with a nice cam, intake, and carb. This will also be on a High Compression 408 setup! Later on i can do the heads if needed.

Here are some pictures of the motor... OH an tony, the top end looked worlds cleaner than the bottom end, but it is very clean still (doesnt show in the picutres)

Will be updating with plans as I go. But I should be buying the parts to overhaul that C4 within the month(2 weeks or so)... And that build will come first, while this block is at the machine shop and the heads are. But 408 is the plan at the moment.

Just totaled up my Transmission build cost without the converter....

1306.95 plus 12.95 for shipping... But that is alright... full reverse manual valve body, transbrake... built to last... Oh and without a shifter...

Thanks Guys...

I cant stand paying somebody to do something i am capable of doing. I would probably not want a carreer out of working on engines and what not, but maybe through an engineering stand point. I will alsway love working on mine though...

BTW anybody know what this cam is? It says on on part RYB12 and the other part D107.
