yeah

that's crazy, i have sarcoma too.. they kept telling me how rare it was and here you have it too

i don't know exactly what type of sarcoma it is yet, but i start chemotherapy in the next few days, they said that will take 6-9 months, then they will decide whether they want to remove my tumor with surgery or radiation

how bad is the chemo? i'm not looking forward to it.. do you have a port?

They aren't too bad, I know several people that have them and they actually like it alot more than in the arm like I have mine. The hardest thing about chemo my friend said was the stomach problems it can cause...

yeah i've heard that the port is better than the iv when it comes to chemo.. a few of my relatives who have cancer say that the chemo didn't make them sick at all, so maybe i will get lucky and not get too sick

yepp. its totaled that 8000 cases in the nation are diagnosed a year. pretty rare. if you ever have any questions, concerns or anything you need, you can always PM me.

chemo is the toughest part of what i had to go through. its not direct pain, but it makes you feel so helpless and weak. i literally had an old man walker just to go to the bathroom or walk around the floor. i didnt have the strength to stand up in the shower and needed constant care. all this at the age of 19/20.

i initially did 3, 7 day rounds of chemo at Walter Reed Army/Navy Hospital in DC, and after scans, they decided the chemo was not affecting my tumor enough to keep doing it so i had my first surgery on Halloween 07' in NYC at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

after recovering, i had more scans that found spots in my lungs and i was immediately declared at Stage 4, which is the worst you can have because it had spread. so i opted for surgery on Jan 5, 2008 and thank God, the results came back negative and were benign, so i was put back to stage 1.

and i finished up my treatments with 6 weeks of radiation on my main location.(left wrist) i still cant grow hair where i was given radiation and was working full time after recovering from my second surgery and while going through radiation.

but now im declared in remission and just have scans every 3 months. i thank God for everyday im alive and through this experience i see myself as a more mature individual. like i said, if you ever have any questions or ANYTHING, feel free to contact me and i can help explain to prepare you for what is to come. but stay strong and keep those who mean the most closest to you. my family and friends were always at the hospital helping me through it and im so glad they were there.

EDIT: yes i do have a mediport but the surgeon that put mine in offered it to be put in my right arm just under my bicep on the inside of my arm and its still in today. it was placed in the same day i started chemo. i dont have any pics of it but a lot of people have never seen one there, i think its pretty cool.

here's some pics from before, during and after my experience.

just months before i was diagnosed, you can see the tumor bulge on my wrist. im on the left.

day after my 1st surgery in NYC. 5 friends drove 5 hours to come see me

in Time Square the day after my surgery lol. i love my friends.

pics of the scar and my wrist.

being bald after chemo, these are from last Nov.

pic of my second scar from chest surgery in Jan. 08'

and this is my most recent from just a few days ago.
