Life Guidance.. lol

I'm considering quitting my night job, UPS, because the economy has basically screwed me out of going full time into driving for a few years and I essentially hate working there now due to a new boss and his idiotic ideas. I used to enjoy working there immensely, but I'm tired of getting screwed.. in several ways.. by them. I am working daytime at a local grocery store chain, not making much an hour but usually getting close to 40 hrs a week. I might have to replace that job with another full time job to make a little more money.. but I will probably end up going back to school. What are some suggestions that you guys have for me? I want to be able to live comfortably and not have to worry about paycheck to paycheck. I am interested in cars and computers. The number one thing I have enjoyed about most of my jobs is the chance to help people. I take pride in it. I also want to be secure in the field I choose. Do you all have any suggestions or ideas for me?

I am a mechanic. I get paid well but not the thing I want to do for the rest of my life. I would rather work on my own car on my own time. I am waiting to hear back from a few Law Enforcment jobs, mun. polic and corrections. Mainly because for the hours you work the pay is good, and hell the benifits are awesome. There is always crime so there will always be work lol.

thats what i would like to do, but it will be hard.. if the economy had stayed fine, i would already have the position or if not, very soon.. they have great benefits and there is no other job where you can make 60-80k a year with no degree.

corrections in NJ start at 51 a year. My towns PD starts at 54. Sounds like a lot but the cost of living here is hell. I plan on working here for a few years and getting out.

I am taking classes in marketing, its a good field, but doesnt really seem like it suits you too well. Criminal Justice is a good field to get into.

i was in college for business management before i withdrew to work two jobs and make some extra because of all the explicit statements that made it seem that i would already have the driving job because of all of my seniority

With rare and storied exception, dropping out of school almost never pays off.

Remember that when your job is your hobby, you're less likely to want to do the hobby on your own time. I used to be on my home computer 3-4 hours/night, now since I work in the field, I'm on my home system 1-2 hours/week.

The one job that I don't see going away is web design. I don't do it, but a good, solid grasp of it will allow you to work anywhere you want, and make some pretty decent money doing it.

Off subject a little, but as far as shipping companies go, I heard DHL is leaving the U.S. indefinitely. Sucky economy.... looks like UPS and FedEx were too much of a duo to compete with in a recessive economy.

As far as the life guidance goes, and getting a career, finish that education. Many employers in my area pay their employees to do so. Currently, that is what I am pursuing (aeronautical engineering degree) with my employer.
