Energy comes from sugar. It's what your body runs on. If your low energy and taking caffeine all the time, I'd suggest knocking off the caffeine, and getting some exercise. If you're getting lots of exercise, then you need to support your body's activities, which means you need sugar/carbs. Protein will give you longer-term energy, but it takes a while between time of consumption and when that energy is accessible.

Really, this depends on your metabolism. If you have a very fast metabolism, you should be eating more sugars/simple carbs. If you have a very slow metabolism, then you need to stick to more complex molecules: proteins and amino acids. Either way, though, you need to have both.

Or, if that's too much to read , just drink some orange juice

your options are limited if you can't intake all that stuff...cocaine as suggested, and meth are your best bets. Other than that, the usual protein type bars, they'll contain some caffeine and sugars still though, but nothing like what you'd get in coffee or a caffeine tablet.

Exercise will be your best bet though, a few jumping jacks in the morning, push ups, etc to get the blood flowing will really help wake you up. Other than that, get more sleep. If you're not at 7 hours, then you're going to need supplements to keep you up eventually.

That's a problem. I'll have to find the study, but for every hour you short yourself sleep continually for a week, you have an effective drop of about 10 IQ points, amoungst a myriad of other immune system and general health issues.

Don't short yourself sleep, man, it's not worth it.

and that's your problem. Human body can't sustain itself on natural energy at 5 hours of sleep. That is the root cause, until you fix that you will be reliant on caffeine and sugar. You can even take a peek at statistics, typically people who get less sleep tend to be more overweight, they become so dependent on bad foods for energy.

The best approach is to eat about 35 grams of carbs per meal. this will give you energy, but will not spike your insulin, storing your carbs as fat.

And 35 grams for both a 100 lb guy and a 300 lb guy? Where's this number come from?
